Let’s go @ChickPhilA !!!
NEW JERSEY!!!
I smiled literally the entire pod.
You seem incredibly happy and I really needed the smile after the day I had today.
Fwiw, thank you for your laughter and personality.
That was truly enjoyable.
Gas Light Anthem had me laughing.
A+ Urban rant
I have no other outlet for Sheryl Sandberg hate, just fantastic stuff
A reserved spot for Bandon and a starring role on the Trap Draw. It truly is the @ChickPhilA appreciation week here on the refuge!
On NJ, the last time I was in Newark was about 4 years ago and I remember being absolutely blown away by how quickly the vibe changed after walking just a couple blocks away from the Prudential Center.
Edit: Also love the Wegmans shout out. As a Rochester native it’s great to hear our local store get its kudos outside of Western NY.
@ChickPhilA that was fantastic. Great job by you.
I sent out a link to the podcast to some of my friends so they could witness the Urban detonation. The Trap Draw gained a few new listeners yesterday.
A+ podcast.
@ChickPhilA was superb. As a native of the Garden State I found myself laughing and agreeing almost the entire time. I didn’t live there long (moved across the river when I was 3), but my wife and have a ton of family that lives there and we visit frequently.
Great podcast. Listening made me miss NJ so much.
And @Max_Power, a few blocks either way outside of the Rock can certainly change the vibe. But the Ironbound section is pretty incredible. Newark is a pretty awesome city to be honest. That sounds ludicrous, but I ride with Newark till the end.
15 minutes on Urban was a lot
Yup I totally get that. When I moved to the Detroit area I was skeptical and then the more time I spent there I really grew to love it. There are so many awesome things in Detroit that people don’t experience because they dismiss it due to reputation. I will always defend downtown Detroit.
As a huge Devils fan I was pumped to go see a game in the new arena when they built it. Little different than Continental Airlines Arena…
The culture in Columbus around the football team is just plain disgusting. The city has over 2 million people, it’s diverse and highly educated, tons of fun stuff to do, but it’s image is clouded/ruined by the attitudes around the college football team.
This shit goes way back to Woody Hayes. Dude was a god damn psycho. Proudly abusive and even after getting shit canned for punching an opposing player, holds god status to this day.
Jim Tressel not only cheated, he lied about it. They carried him off the field 10 years later and he also retains god status.
Now we have Urban. The guy is a straight up fucking scumbag. Period point blank. Blatantly covers for a serial domestic abuser, lies about it, but the dominant narrative in Columbus is that it’s all the victim’s fault.
They continue to employ his dipshit of a wife, and LET HER TEACH NURSING CLASSES AS AN ANTIVAX LUNATIC. Because Urban won football games. Fucking pathetic.
Is anyone surprised Jeffrey Epstein thrived in this environment?
I’m a massive Devils fan too haha. Just a bit of difference than playing in the Meadowlands. I love the Rock, they did a very nice job with it. And having a Dinosaur BBQ right next door is huge.
I’m excited to listen to this one. I have all the faith in the world it’s great but someone from south Jersey talking about Essex county gets my concern level up
Officially for the record…its Taylor Ham.
Always and forever it will be Taylor Ham
(I used to live in Hudson/Bergen counties and worked in Essex. I got some bonafides lol)
Great tomatoes are a wonderful thing. I’ve always enjoyed German Johnson and Better Boy’s.
Was just texting @ChickPhilA about my mom’s “Mater” Sandwiches (Sourdough bread, Duke’s mayo, salt, pepper, and slices of fresh tomatoes).
Haha I have no doubt! I’m excited to listen to the pod!
Hearing some of the NJ band names brought me back to college. Had a roommate that was a huge Thursday fan and was in an emo band. I woke up one morning and the band The Sleeping was on our dorm room floor.
