Can’t say that I have.
Worth a try
Re-watched it on the weekend.
Pam Grier and Robert Forster are so great together.
I know I’m late to this but thank you. Your take about Mission burritos is right on the money as well as the California burrito one.
The bacon cheese dog is the best thing on the menu at Five Guys. Great item to get to-go as everything melds together into a cohesive form.
Totally. Great call. Super underrated show.
Thought you knocked the interview out of the park. There is simply too much ground to cover for one person.
Ding ding ding, this is the correct answer. Shake Shack beats out In-n-Out and Five Guys. I have easy access to all three and will choose Shake Shack most every time. Shake Shack has much better quality meat than the other two.
Agreed with what others have said, it is a bit apples to oranges, as In-n-Out is a true fast food restaurant, you can get a beer at Shake Shack.
Also Five Guys burgers are very good (despite the lack of seasoning), all that cheese, but they are a freaking meal in themselves. Need a nap after eating one of those. Shout out to Phil Mickelson, who’s (or was) part of a group that owns the Five Guys naming rights in Orange County.
Since this is a LA thread, amazing that neither Apple Pan or Fat Burger has come up. And for hot dogs, Pink’s. Big, big misses.
Pink’s is absolute garbage.
Apple Pan is fine, but can’t hold a candle to Pie-n-Burger in Pasadena.
Has Roscoe’s been mentioned in this thread yet?
Pinks sucks. Pure garbage. Taste aside, how does it make sense to only pile toppings on the middle third of a hot dog? The bun is a third a size of the dog, absolutely impossible to eat.
I mean, if this looks good to you, go for it, but I can assure you it isn’t.
it was mentioned by Laz on the pod
Carney’s is a good place for a hotdog, but the hotdog place I miss the most is The Weiner Factory at Kester and Ventura.
I worked at the Stand in Encino as a kid and they have decent dogs/sausages.
Hinano in Venice might be my favorite burger in LA. Especially after hitting the bars.
Also a big fan of Fathers Office.
Do you listen to the Around The NFL Podcast? They specifically refer to both of these places as their haunts (pre-COVID, obviously.)
I don’t, but seems like they have great taste. Hinano is one of the finest dives in town.
There are better hot dogs in LA than Pink’s, Fab Hot Dogs in Reseda comes to mind. Apple pan is definitely a nostalgic place but there are definitely better burgers to be had. I’d say grill em all in Alhambra is definitely worth the trip.
@Lazstradamus can you, or anyone else familiar, talk to me about El Cochinito?
One of my wife’s favorite food items is a cuban sandwich and they are said to make an excellent one. I enjoy a cuban sandwich, but if we’re stopping by an authentic Cuban place I’d just as soon take a bite of her sandwich and try something else on the menu. I’m a fan of ropa vieja and I’ve had palomilla. Anything else worth checking out? On the menu Arroz Frito looks intriguing.
