Trap Draw: Columbus

Les isn’t “deep” in the Epstein scandal, he IS the Epstein scandal. Jeffrey Epstein was absolutely nothing until Les, one of the most sophisticated business people in America, decided not only to give him a billion dollars to manage, but gave him power of attorney over his entire personal financial empire! And bought him a $50 million house in New York City! Then later claims Epstein stole from him, though Les never contacted law enforcement or even filed a civil suit against him (Les is no stranger to litigation)? Oh yeah, Epstein lived on Les’s compound in New Albany in a 10,000 SF house. And lets not even get started on Ed Razek.

Ohio State fans are the woooooorst. God I loved this discussion, Tron absolutely nailed it. Some of the most delusional, arrogant, flat out annoying people on the planet. I do think its true that the worst offenders didn’t attend the school. Ohio has about 100 economically desolate towns of 10k - 50k with nothing left but Trump flags, guns and deeply embedded racism. And they’re all in Columbus on game day.

Cameron Mitchell gets after it. Not known for his laid back lifestyle to say the least. Formulaic concepts, vanilla menus, terrible pours, yuck. Drexel is awesome, fantastic shout out. Spots you missed: North Market, the awful casino, Clintonville, Columbus Country Club and the art museum.

Thank you for not talking about Jack Hannah. Or the fucking milkshakes. Or Thurman’s.

My only question on this.

Are we getting back to back Columbus Trap Draws?

I assume second Columbus podcast will have more Rick Nash content

As a big time Ohio State fan, who didn’t attend the school but by family association, I’m very triggered right now. Not saying they are wrong…but consider me a member of the butthurt nation

He’s was a group or two in front of me at Scioto CC once. He hit it very far which checks out based on his size and profession.

I’m only 20 minutes or so in, so I’m waiting to hear all of the Bogey Inn content.

Minor fact check: Les’s daughter was never on the board (she’s like 20), that was his wife Abigail. Les has run Ohio State by proxy for 30 years.

Urban does indeed look exactly like Assad.

One time Jack Hanna tried to meet Tiger and Tiger had no clue who he was and DGAF so he just walked past him. It was beautiful and I was glad to be able to capture the moment on camera

Clintonville has a soft spot in my heart. Love that area.

The milkshakes, the Jacks (Nicklaus and Hannah), and Thurman’s weren’t going to sniff getting a mention (aside from complaining about Jack’s desecration of the Scarlet course and Scioto)

Jesus, I just assumed it was his daughter since he looks like the crypt keeper and the pics I’d seen of Abigail made her look in her thirties. TC regrets this error more than most!

The South Carolina/SEC conversation was fantastic @Soly . Have a good amount of friends that went there and every year they bang the SEC football drum when Bama/LSU wins the title and SC finishes dead last in the conference.

As a Dublin Ohio native I’m looking forward to listening to this one and getting absolutely miffed at @Tron

Michigan fan here (screw Ohio State), so all I want to say is that I’ve NEVER understood how SEC fans are ride or die for the conference. If you’re not a Wolverine, I want your throat to get stomped on by whomever you’re playing.

I’m not defending it, but the roots are in Ohio State making a bunch of title games / BCS appearances when they sucked. In 2007 and 2008 Ohio State lost back to back title games by a combined score of 79-38.

That 2007 Florida vs Ohio State national championship game was one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever watched in my life.

Ted Ginn Jr hurting himself celebrating a kick-off return TD and then missing the rest of the game was just chef’s kiss.

It quickly went downhill or the Buckeyes after that and my dad and I were like giddy little kids. It was awesome.

When I realized Wexner was deeply tied to the university, it changed my opinion quite drastically. And the conference drum beating by everyone but Alabama and LSU is strange. If Michigan were to ever make it back to a title game, I’m not rooting for a Big 10 win. Lots of talk coming from a school that hasn’t won an outright championship since 1948 (only consensus title btw). Cheering for injuries? Not a good look

Want to hit on the “SEC fans are rational” specifically UGA:

UGA has been pre-season national champions for 20 years running. Walking down the street in Athens and getting barked at by a 43 year old man is far

…far

from rational.

shoutout @Tron for the CCHA love. College hockey was so much cooler when it was WCHA CCHA and Hockey East. RIP

I personally ride for Graeter’s since it was around when I was frequenting Columbus in the early 2000s. Recently found the S’mores flavor in pints here in Krogers, I may have eaten 3 pints in as many weeks.

Also, preferred hang-over food for me on these visits was W.G. Grinders.
