Trap Draw: Boston

He has enough disposable income to pay for nannies and whatever home repair stuff my wife would want me to do if I didn’t work all day.

I have a feeling he probably spends more time with his four kids than “normal people” do considering he mainly plays golf on weekdays.

He literally said his schedule allows him to spend more time with his kids and wife than 95% of working dads.

After listening to this pod, It’s obvious why Woodhead was able to be successful for a long time in the NFL, especially for a 5’8” guy. He has a drive and borderline obsessive mentality for golf that he no doubt channeled into his RB career. I was entertained.

So good. My in-laws live on island and the last time I played here was Thanksgiving 2018. Cold and windy but completely empty and had a blast.

so what are you trying to do then?

he said he plays in the morning and that he was home by like 1 pm every day to spend time with him family

dude is clearly not a shitty family guy or he wouldnt have asked his wife to move to every city he played in with him…he would have left her at home and been out doing as he pleased

if you were able to golf every day and be home at 1 pm instead of going to work and being home at 5-6, wouldnt your wife be happy with that arrangement as well?

not to mention im sure they are financially stable and she has help with the kids and never had to work

First post - simply couldn’t believe the mention of Fresh Pond, which has immediately become my favorite local track having moved from the South End to the Cambridge area 2 years ago.

TC seemed a bit out of the loop when it came to food scene vs. the golf courses. Food scene is damn near top tier at any price point, meanwhile the courses that the area is known for simply aren’t accessible for the average Joe.

Really interesting episode and loved DW as a guest.

I’m in CT so have been to both Boston and Providence many times. I think the food scene in both is really great and would be a tough call. I wonder if Tron was considering Cambridge or just Boston proper as that may push Boston over the edge for me.

On a side note, I finally got out to Al Forno last week to try there grilled pizza, and it was terrific. So good that we made the 3 hour round trip again yesterday. I think that satiated the need for now.

We obviously have great pizza all over CT, but this was pretty unique.

@tron, @Randy, loved the mea culpa consideration. The discussion of weird Massachusetts town name pronunciations, while certainly not breaking new ground, gave me several belly laughs. Tron, I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone pronounce Natick the way you did, so kudos on that.

The food scene is pitiful compared to most American cities that are cultural hubs. I will vigorously defend that point. The fine dining scene is decent but there’s not much depth or breadth.

The PVD dining scene is far superior to BOS - not even close.

I was about to jump to the defense of the BOS restaurant scene yet again, but realize there is just no point in arguing something so subjective. It did make me think of this piece, though:

Sounds like a guy who would have taken care with his $15,241,824 career earnings, so yeah, they should be financially stable. Especially living in Nebraska.

Wondering if your adventures in Boston over the past two years have caused you to revise your food scene takes at all. Little Donkey and haley.henry are pretty decent, no?
