Trap Draw: Boston

It’s theoretically very well laid out, but it’s a nightmare

Yes, MBTA is not great, but when your point of comparison is MARTA, it sure looks good.

I also thought they did not give enough credit to the Big Dig, likely because it has a terrible rep from cost overruns. Anyone who knew Boston in the 1990s will tell you how revolutionary the Big Dig was for opening up the city.

Former Cambridge resident and I love the T, just not the green line because that bus on rails is a literal train wreck, get it; it constantly derails.

This feels like a “familiarity breeds contempt” situation. I have found that a lot of people hate the public transportation in their city, even if my comparison it is better than most other places.
Couple other quick hits from this pod:
I felt the comment about being afraid to talk golf in Gillette in my soul. Worked there for 2 years and any conversation which wasn’t about football may as well have been in a different language.
I ride for Roche Bros.
This was my favorite Danny Woodhead moment during his time with the team.

was very much hoping the demoulas feud would get laid out. arguably the most intriguing drama in the past 20 years of the regional grocer biz @Tron @Randy

Look the T isn’t bad. I grew up on it living at Forest Hills going to school in fenway. What I hated was the lack of reliability on a working train and how early it closes now that I live outside the city.

The Stop n shop he goes it is alright but its right by the DQ on 140 and traffic is mess in the summer.

@tron referred to initial impressions of MA natives as ‘dicks’. I believe the preferred term is Masshole. I agree with his follow-up that once they get to know you everyone’s great.

You calling me a Masshole?!

Calling myself as well!

Lol love it

Tron’s contrarian schtick is insufferable.

PVD is an absolute dream of an airport. It’s so tiny you could practically crab walk your way from the garage to your gate.

It really is. Couple that with the fact that I live 4 miles away on Narragansett Bay, I can head to the airport an hour before early morning flights and have time for a coffee and bagel prior to boarding.

real solid episode and woodhead as a guest was awesome. bursting at the seams ready to go, hope to have him in future content as well

Longest line you’ll find is Dunkin right after security. Love that airport.

Is there a way to get the Commish and Woodhead on the same episode?

Agree with all the PVD love. Has never taken me longer than 15 minutes to get though security even pre-COVID. Spend a lot of time in RI during the summers and the golf scene is fantastic.

Need Woodhead, Ming Tsao, and Tron’s cousin, the guy who is the fitness trainer on at the same time. Lightning in a bottle. I feel like Randy could just start the show by saying “ok go!” and it would be an hour of enthusiastic, yet entertaining, word vomit.

Side note, I won our work fantasy football championship the year that Woodhead went out with a season ending injury early in the year. I made my team name “Mourning Woodhead” after I dropped him and it always makes me laugh to see that engraved on the trophy that is proudly displayed around my place of employment.

Only problem will be no grocery store talk.

My curiosity was piqued when Danny started talking about how much he golfs and how is wife is supportive of it. He then went on to say she’d rather have him golfing everyday than being at home playing x box for 8 hours. They have 4 young kids.

Not trying to knock the guy, but yikes.
