Trap Draw: Atlanta

tagging onto bbq talk to say that i will never eat at the moe’s original on 10th and state st. that is hallowed ground as the location of Kool Korners, the best cuban sandwich shop. Sr. Ramirez is a saint.

You would probably end up 30 minutes better unless they put a helipad on the building you’re going to.

In 2020 it’s so easy to make a website and to offer food delivery. All the authentic taco places that I go to regularly have a website now.

Even the places that don’t advertise much and their customers are within their neighborhood/community and have very few English speaking customers and employees, mostly have websites, a storefront, and at least ability to order off one of the third-party apps.

Taqueria Del Sol is okay. It’s way overhyped for what it is. Their tacos certainly aren’t even close to the best in the city (not sure where that was mentioned). They don’t even offer corn tortillas for tacos, even though they have them for the enchiladas (which are great).

This man lives in San Antonio. He knows better than me.

Yes they do. Just… ask for them.

thats cool man, i just havent seen it in my person experience, thats all

last time i was at my taco spot near work, dude was carrying whole hogs in the front door over his shoulder…they definitely dont have a website, facebook, etc and arent set up on delivery services

the one near the house, havent seen anyone carrying in a whole hog on their shoulder, but again no website, delivery, etc

they are both inside markets and arent stand alone restaurants so maybe thats a factor

@Tron one thing that hasn’t been mentioned on the grocery discussion is the checkout experience. I much prefer places like Harris Teeter where you just pull your cart up, and the cashier unloads and scans at that same time; versus having to unload yourself onto the belt. In fact when I pull up to a belt sometimes I forget I even have to unload myself. An improvement Publix should look into IMO.

I’ve asked every time. Never gotten them.

If you really think Taqueria Del Sol has the best tacos in Atlanta, I question if you’ve even eaten at other Mexican restaurants.

EDIT: just to follow that up with restaurants that have WAY better tacos… Nuevo Laredo, Bone Garden Cantina, El Rey del Taco, hell even Taco Veloz has better tacos and they’re practically fast food.

I was hoping that was the case, but got concerned when it was mentioned.

haha, it should be viewed like that anyways

Not going to argue that.

To be fair I’ve lived in Dallas for 90% of my life but most of the taco places in San Antonio I’ve been to at least do online orders for lunch.

whats the best taco spot you go to?

Taco Veloz and Nuevo Laredo… no. They’re fine.

If you haven’t gotten corn tortillas on tacos at TDS, I’m not sure what to tell you… I question if we’re thinking of the same place or if you’ve actually asked. From a recent visit, brisket taco with double corn tortillas:

Listen y’all… if you want 3 carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro on a paper plate, don’t go to Taqueria del Sol. I love those kind of tacos, but I prefer TDS every day of the week (they do have carnitas and beef brisket if you want something more ‘traditional’).

collards?

Turnip greens. They may be just as known for those as anything else.

i guess it really all depends on who the clientele is…90% of the places you visit do online orders for lunch, so it sounds to me like those places are catering to a young professionals crowd, would you agree?

i dont know how many laborers sitting around the job site placing the lunch order online between hanging dry wall or laying tile, etc

I guess TDS hates me? If you haven’t been to Bone Garden yet, you definitely need to check it out. It’s not an easy lunch spot like TDS is, but it’s easily my favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. It’s owned by the same people as Laughing Skull. Tacos are incredible, but honestly the whole experience is top notch. Entire menu is fire, drinks are on point and the atmosphere is great.
