Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Yup, its this pedestrian bridge. I had wanted to go to this spot after seeing this specific pic years back but never ended up doing so. This is a better spot for photography than the parking garage but not if you’re just trying to get close to the action.

The only issue with this spot is the light is generally behind the plane (it is in this photo too). The best from this spot would be to get an early summer morning shot, because the northeastern sun should be on the right side of the plane.

I used to use stuff like this website to decide what location I was going to take pics at different times of the year.

Thrilled to hear @Tron exoerience the goodness that is Footy in Melbourne. Hawthorn fan here, and after seven years in Asia it supplanted baseball as my sport this time of year.

A quick note on clubs for the bois: @Pooshdaddy is clearly a Collingwood supporter. They’re the Yankees. @djpie would likely be a Sydney Swans fan, the glitz, the glam, very musical bunch. @Randy actually screams Carlton for me, classic old club, more the reds for an MLB analogy… BIG 70s glory era, much like the Big Red Machine… gotta go with Geelong for @MerchCzar as yes the Blue Collar beginnings, reigning premieres but have Icarito’d to start the season. @soly is the tough one. Feels like a Brisbane Lions fan, glory era was early 2000s, recently on the come up. A club that’s been down but now a destination for locale and sensible footy. @Cody is all Richmond for mine. Tough club, big club, incredible passionate but also been through the wringer and have emerged victorious the last half-decade. @sundaybag feels like a Melbourne Demons kinda guy. Oldest club in the land, they do it the right way, we’re lost for two decades, almost folded, but had one of the game’s great coaches drag them outta the more to set them up to win their first flag for 30 years…

@Tron i can’t quite decide if yer a Western Bulldogs kinda guy or a Port Adelaide fan. Both are unsung with possibly the most rabid hardcore loving fans, do it the right way, play tough but then inexplicably crater but still save face. A true TC pair of footy clubs.

Anyway, it’s a glorious sport, the most physically and aerobically demanding professional sporting code in the world. Welcome, mate!

I missed @KVV and @ChickPhilA !!! Fuck!!!

Scagnetti regrets the error.

Casey is the Doggies fan. The Western Bulldogs is a great comp for Phillies and Eagles fans. She barracks for the Doggies.

KVV I get the sense is likely to be the new, upstart, flash in the pan, too talented for the breeches Greater Western Sydney expansion club, new to the AFL only ten years ago, but guided by veteran leadership to a runners up finish just a few seasons ago.

There. There’s yer AFL Footy roll call for our gang.

And for whomever out there that’s curious, it’s truly magnificent to see, both on the tele and live. Organized chaos, and gifted, phenomenally conditioned athletes. It’s a joy to watch and root for. [can be incredibly violent as well!]

@Tron I’m here to help guide you to all that you need to know for the beautiful game of Aussie Rules!

“Western Australia even has a team now.”

Tough scene my man…

@Pooshdaddy - Agree on Collingwood. Might be too on the nose.
@djpie - Maybe Fremantle given the hipster/musical/underdog vibes. Mr Pie has won a Tourist Sauce though, so maybe Sydney is the better choice given Freo have won ZERO.
@Randy - I would go North Melbourne. Storied, old school, a little scruffy, plays hard but fair.
@MerchCzar - St Kilda; party boy suburb, likeable (bar the coach!), only one Premiership but multiple close calls including the famous tied GF in 2010. Screams Icarito to me.
@Soly - Torn on Carlton or Geelong. Working class origins into the big time, C-Suite behemoths they are now. Not much to rave about of late for Carlton and would have been SERIOUS questions about Geelongs cajones if they hadn’t won the pillow fight that was last years GF. Lots of nice trinkets in their squad, too.
No dispute on @sundaybag or @cody picks, and the Doggies for @ChickPhilA might be too good. @KVV I think would be Hawthorn with yourself.

For @Tron though.

C-Suite. Chardonnay. Lots of noise/takes. Beautiful home setup. Wild success followed by periods of irrelevance/tanking (the lefty year?!). Likes to stir the pot. Statement clothing.

I’m biased, but I think he’s West Coast Eagles. Welcome, TC.

Assumed when @Tron was complaining about loading/unloading at airports he was going to reference this horror story from Logan recently:

Detailed and well thought out suggestions so hard to disagree. I know Tron mentioned the baggers (Carlton) but I want forewarn him. They have been a disgrace most of my teenage and adult life. Much of it self-inflicted, from salary cap rorts, subsequent (excessive) punishments, false dawns, and many poor coaching appointments but fingers crossed we are on the rise, feel free to jump onboard, but prepare for disappointment. You don’t need to look back any further than the end of last season. Heartbreaking stuff.

Also, if any American or international wants to toss out a little catnip (shoutout SGS), get on Twitter, feign interest in the AFL and watch many Aussies delight in the attention you’re showing our little (but fantastic) game.

Just thought I’d chime in here with a positive travel experience. Just went SLC to DFW on American. The plane was an Airbus A321. The pay-for WiFi was great and streamed flawlessly. Plane seats were comfortable, I was one step behind first, not sure what their terminology is for that. Left early and arrived early. Went terminal C to B in DFW. Train was quick and efficient. Had a good meal at cousins BBQ near gate B43. The only possible wrench is my next leg of DFW to MYR is on an Embraeyer 175 so it is what it is. Will let you know how that works out

Flew PSP->PHX->IAH on Monday w/ AA. Another perfect AA experience.

IAH appears to be dated based on what I saw on arrival. Very interested in the departure on Friday morning. I have a sinking feeling that IAH is going to be in the bottom half of my airport list.

The A gates have been remodeled a few times, but it’s the oldest building at IAH and there’s only so much you can do with an old building. C/E where United is looks much better.

B gives me the ick when i have to fly to some BFE town a baby RJ.

C / E are great as long as your avoiding the traffic snarl the accompanies the international arrivals.

Composite image I made a while back showing the size difference between an A380 and a 737.

Original photo was the A380 and then the 737 landed right before or after (so same lighting) on the same approach to 24R, using the same of focal length on my lens.

Showed up for my 8:30 flight out of IAH this morning and security went pretty smooth. AA terminal needs a facelift bigly. Flight delayed until 10am due to 1st Officer calling in sick and we are waiting on an inbound replacement. Will miss my connection. But, AA staff jumped right into action, got most people rebooked onto other flights in a friendly and timely manner. The AA staff told us how to rebook on our phones so we didn’t have to wait in an annoying line and I was able to change to a later connection without issue. So far, very pleased with how easy this inconvenience has been. Fingers crossed everything goes easy from here on out.

I think Spirit, Frontier, Southwest is literally a corral in the basement and American fly through A, which is most likely why is isnt that nice. The American Hub is in DFW, so I don’t think they put much effort into IAH. The United Terminals are all really nice and roomy.

FLL being shut down because over two feet of rain fell in a day was a thing that happened.

Pretty pumped right now. Used my wife’s stash of AA miles to book business class to Tokyo next March. BOS - ORD on AA metal, then ORD - HND on JAL metal. 13 hours in JAL business class will be sweet. 60k AA miles per ticket is a steal for that itinerary.
