Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Got into United lounge in D terminal at IAD for $19

Not sure it was worth it.

Carlton suits @Tron to a tee…would fit in perfectly with the Blue Blood C-Suite types, things of that nature.

I did Tokyo - Boston - Tokyo in JAL Business in 2018. The seats were super comfy, food was on point and the Japanese whisky selection was impeccable! I had the Sky Suite config and got the pod on the window each time, which means you are very secluded.

This story is stirring up opinions galore. I’m of the thought that popcorn is probably the worst airplane snack for kids, and that’s a huge strike against the mother for making that shitty choice. People should be responsible for their kids’ messes. Also, the husband is a douche for making a story out of it despite not being on the flight.

United gave the popcorn out, not the mom. If you don’t want kids throwing it on your plane, don’t give it to kids. Sounds like the flight attendant could have handled this with more grace.

Can’t wait for the color commentary the next time this guy gives up a dinger. “And that kernel is popping outta the bag and onto the floor between the seats in Center Field Economy!”

2 complaints about flying from recent flights:

  1. Pilots who leave the seat belt sign on for a long time. They need to either communicate that they’re leaving it on or turn it off. If it’s on for a long time and there’s only small bumps, people will get up and use the bathroom. That gets the flight attendants mad eventually. I don’t blame people if the seat belt signs been on for a while and the flight attendants are moving around. I think this is worst on Southwest, but it’s happened to me on other airlines recently, too.

  2. The airport employee at the entrance to the security line that insists on seeing everyone’s boarding pass. TSA isn’t going to let me through the precheck line without precheck. You don’t need to triple check it for me. And if I’m going to the normal line, you definitely don’t need to see it.

Having spent many hours in a jumpseat, I can tell you that there is wide variety among pilots for managing the seatbelt light. If the two pilots are very friendly, idle chatter can ensue and it can be very easy for them to forget the light is still on. If they are professional and not social with their communications, the light will only be on when necessary. Turbulence forecasting products continually improve and with most airline pilots having an IPad in the cockpit for reference knowing when to turn on the seatbelt light is also improving.

Coming for @Soly’s hitters at American today. Wife was flying direct to LaGuardia at 6:30am yesterday from our smaller airport XNA. Direct flights are a god send because most of the time we’re going through Atlanta or Dallas. They overbooked the flight by 12 and what do you know, everyone showed up. My wife was one of 3 volunteers to take the $850 voucher and they told her they would put her on the 2:00pm flight first class to LGA. The remaining 9 people were not as well compensated as my wife and they were just put on different flights to DFW and CLT. Anyways, turns out the 2:00pm flight is massively overbooked as well so they put her on a 9:30 flight to CLT and have a 3 hour layover there before taking her to NEWARK! Hopefully they shape up by the time she scheduled to fly out tonight.

She should ask for another voucher. At first I thought you left her behind hahaha

She was flying solo for a work trip. Sorry that wasn’t apparent.

It’s all good I need to go here

But as someone who’s never experienced the overbooked price is right do they book you another ticket immediately? Or is it like “thanks for taking the cash, we will deal with figuring you out in a bit”

Well my only experience with overbooked flights has been American. I’ve got another long story about getting bumped on my first time flying solo at 17 and it’s the reason I never fly American.

Flying Southwest at this point is just a “you’re asking for it” situation. Not that the big 3 are much better, but at least I can be reasonably certain that when I’m flying Delta, the myriad reasons why my flight may not timely depart do not include “because we literally had to ask the FAA to ground stop us so we can check to see if the hamster in the wheel running our entire computer network died again.”

I have free flights for our upcoming Bandon trip and am seriously contemplating switching airlines and paying out of pocket.

The FAA should just ground stop Southwest indefinitely as a customer courtesy.
