This is where Pete could shine by coming up with some creative punishment. He won’t though.
A complete ban on all cutesy flight attendant announcements from all social media platforms would be devastating to WN.
My suggestion:
Majority of my convenience is Delta and that’s why i fly it. Next year would be a great year for me to fly AA to all my jobs cause it’s going to be Charlotte and DFW and SWB alot. But i got delta status so I’ll just stay with them. And ill be dammed if i don’t have the worst luck with delays on AA. It’s like a cloud over my head. i never had luck with US scareways either so i guess that followed on the merger. But convenience, status are of course huge factors. I also have the delta amex.
Gotta love the multiple rounds of bailouts as a backdrop to this
Nationalize it.
I live really close to DCA, which has been terrific because 1) it has domestic flights to something like 45+ states, plus a handful of outbound international nonstop flights to Canada, Caribbean, etc., and 2) it’s not completely dominated by any one airline using it as a “hub” so there’s actually competition from American, Delta, United, JetBlue, Southwest, Canadian and even Frontier/Spirit (never use those two, but still), and 3) it’s a really well-run and well-redesigned airport (the old X gates are now burning in hell) and very easy to get in/out for locals. Parking and rental car situation leaves a bit to be desired in terms of scale, but still better than many other airports.
AA has the most flights of any carrier but not by a huge margin, and I can hit any hub for Delta/AA/United etc to link up for an international trip to anywhere in the world. If I’m flying to Europe I’d rather hit DCA for a quick hop to Atlanta, JFK, Boston, etc for a quick layover than drive all the way to Dulles and deal with their mountains of bullshit to get on a nonstop.
Southwest and Canada are banished to the old Terminal 1 building at DCA. Before Christmas, WN’s troubles there caused a huge shitshow in the entire airport as cars of stranded/rescheduled WN passengers clogged up the entries to the whole airport and logjammed the entire road complex. Never seen anything like it. Hopefully they get their shit together sooner than later.
Flying Southwest in February.
I’m scheduled to fly to Nashville over MLK weekend. At least there’s no checked luggage on that flight
I said the same thing to my wife last night but we are March. Spring break travel from Wisconsin is usually super chill and laid back though so we should be fiiiiiiine.
Same, for a golf trip. All this luggage chatter isn’t great and we are rental house vs hotel for ShipSticks.
The number of nonstops out of Mitchell post pandemic has been disappointing.
I haven’t checked MKE but for work, a lot of my team does Indy to KC and SWST is bringing back direct in April for 1st time post pandemic. Maybe MKE routes start returning.
That would be nice. I split ORD and MKE in travel time almost exactly the same, but the rest is much easier out of MKE.
Finally caught up on the latest Chop Session. There was a one off about the Jacksonville political operative who killed himself… I’ve heard some interesting vague information from people who knew him, hinting at something big that may come out. “He’s a creep,” per a former neighbor of his, and from somebody loosely connected to the local GOP (but on the outs for supporting Biden in 2020), says more will come out.
Great final chop session fellas,
I am not saying that you straddle the line with some other entities BUT I’d definitely buy some merchandise ‘inspired’ by it…
Yep, the route options have gotten really bad in the last 3-4 years. We generally fly to the same spots and I’ve noticed that only my beloved MKE-Denver route remains affordable and easy. Everything to Florida, New York, and California is now a disaster. We usually go to Florida this week, but scrapped it this year because flights were so expensive for like 8 hours of travel time (no bueno with a 6yo).
My new dilemma. Who know living close to MDW would have such huge perks with swa and the direct flights. Now everything for me is out of mke or ohare and usually is a transfer, which i tend to avoid at all costs. Got a Pebble golf tripped booked end of March so hoping they have their shit together somewhat in order by then. I’ve also got a companion pass for q1 but not sure how useful that will be now.
it is important to remember this is the first post-covid Christmas holiday right?
no masks on planes woohoo
pent up demand
some people just seem to have discovered that planes fly over oceans
it’s insane regardless of the SWA disaster
