It is for a Cabot trip. Coming from Las Vegas and despite typically having several options for anything international from here, it seems Air Canada is my only real option to get to Halifax. American has some flights, but bad layovers and awkward times.
Thinking about making a stop over in the Northeast to visit friends in Connecticut beforehand and seeing what options I have from there.
If your trip is next June, absolutely no reason to book now. American and Air Canada fly nonstop to Halifax from Boston (my home airport) so that is an option if you come to New England on your way there.
Yeah I’m in no rush to book. Just checked flight options to see what airlines were flying between here and there. I’ll give it some time to see how things look as the trip gets closer.
There are a number of different islands that you can reach by ferry (Hellenic Seaways). Our group chartered a catamaran to visit the different islands and stayed on that so I do not have any experience with those ferries unfortunately but saw them frequently.
Years ago my then-gf’s parents booked a Viking cruise from Instanbul to Athens with a stop at several Greek islands along the way. We ended up going when her dad messed up his back and couldn’t sit on an airplane for that long. I’m fairly anti-cruise but other than being the youngest people on the boat by a good 30 years, it was a great time. Would recommend looking into it, just to only have to unpack once.
I flew through Miami for the first time last week. The D terminal has to be the longest terminal I have ever walked down. It would be 1 gate and then like 2 restaurants and 2 shops before the next one. It felt like it was never going to end.
I totally agree with @TGray about getting a private driver to get in to Rome. Made it so much easier (had an 18 month old with us). Was Pre-Shit show as well. Good luck!
You’ll likely find that there’ll be more options for Halifax available closer to your departure date. YHZ is still recovering from COVID restrictions - there was no U.S. service to / from the airport for over 2 years. Pre-COVID, there was daily service from EWR as mentioned above and daily WestJet service from BOS.
Anyone been to Mexico since we have lifted the testing ban? We went a few times and had just gotten that whole process down pat now. Is it completely like pre Covid? are there things needed to be done (fill out questionaire etc) on the Mexico side?
Just got back from Mexico City and the only thing really to worry about is when you deplane in Mexico you need a mask. Same immigration form getting in to Mexico, and when you get back just go through customs like old times.
I have a week of vacation in mid August. I had penciled in a trip to somewhere in Europe, but seeing all the issues LHR, DUB, AMS, and FRA have had are giving me second thoughts. Perhaps things will improve in 5 weeks, but it certainly bears close close monitoring.
