Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Planning to go to London in early/mid September and am having similar worries. I could probably fit all my clothes in a carry-on, but I’d like to bring the golf clubs which could blow up plans.

This would be a fascinating weight and balance issue for the crew chief. I guess if you evenly distribute them throughout the cabin and load it normally in the cargo area it would net out pretty similarly, but you would still probably have to do a lot of manual accounting to satisfy the pilots.

Not really. Large aircraft are easy to balance. 1,000 bags = 30,000 lbs of cargo, well within norms for a widebody. It’s the smaller aircraft that struggle with a light payload.

Global entry - has anyone gone through the interview process recently? The next available appointment I can find is March of 2023 a few hours away. 2 questions:

How soon after interview have you gotten GE status?

Has anyone had any luck walking up to enrollment desks in the airport unscheduled?

I am currently in the same situation, mine expires this fall and just went through the renewal process online. Pretty sure the fastest way to complete it is when you are returning from an international trip, not 100% sure on the process if you just show up at the airport/enrollment center.

if you have conditional status you can go to enrollment centers. mine has walkups every day at 2.

Where do you live. If you’re anywhere close to a US-Canada border, or will be flying to one in the near future, NEXUS is far better (and cheaper) to have.

Holy hell that sounds awful!
We began the process in March thinking it would be plenty of time for a May trip to Mexico and we barely made it. Interview was 10 days before the trip and we got our card 5 days before. Outside of that initial wait for the interview, it was seamless. We could’ve driven to ORD/MDW for the enrollment if necessary though.

A friend had the choice of waiting many months or flying down to MIA for the day to just get it done.

Took me over a year to get an appointment but finally got it done this spring. Was effective like 2 days later, and got the card in the mail after a couple weeks.

Recommend re-checking the site often since people tend to cancel. And check locations where you might be traveling (cities with big DHS offices tend to have more availability, like NY and DC). No harm in trying a walk-in.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am in Alabama - so I don’t cross the Canadian border very often.

We have limited GE interview options. HSV, MOB, ATL, BNA, Biloxi. I’m currently TSA Pre for a few more years I may just ride this out and try and get a GE interview later in 2023 in HSV as there’s no rush.

Before COVID I used to travel to Europe a fair amount for work. At that time I had a customs border patrol app they were trying to roll out. If you had the app they would put you at the front of the line (sort of). Is that still a thing? Does anyone know what I am referring to? I’ll post a photo of the app.

Update that app has been replaced by this one. I haven’t used it obviously so I can’t say if it expedites anything. In 2019 the “old app” did.
