Not an option at this point. We are flying into Rome and getting a connector to Sicily and spending six days there. Coming back to Rome and doing 36 hours of tours/tourist stuff so hopefully massive crowd exposure is limited to that leg of trip. Staying at an air bnb in rome that is providing transport to and from airport. Fingers crossed we get extremely lucky on the airport shitshow.

Yeah Rome airport was misery for us both directions. Massive line for customs after a very long flight. When we departed, we somehow had to go through 3! separate checkpoints and nearly missed our flight.

I would like to come here to advocate for Omaha’s airport. I’ve only had positive experiences, it takes 2.5 minutes to get through security, and flights are generally reasonably price in/out of the city. If you’re doing things in the Midwest, do Omaha.

I for one did not have a poor experience at Rome’s airport. I flew in from Dubai, had no issue with custom’s (carrying and checking LOTS of camera gear) and then departing the airport on a train to Tuscany a few days later…
This was amusing to find in the train terminal a few hundred meters’ walk from customs and the exits…

So, for all the haters out there, just a quick heads up on my experience today. Flew LAX->LHR nonstop w/ British Airways on an Airbus 350. Fantastic flight. Landed at 10:10am local time and was through Passport screening, luggage reclaim, and customs in less than an hour. All of my family’s items made it (including my golf clubs). I think it definitely helped that LHR was my final stop and that I didn’t have any connecting flights. Could not be happier and about to go get after it at the pubs in London right now.
So, for all the hate LHR gets, I am 2-for-2 with my experience with the airport.

We flew to Rome a few weeks ago and it was not great or terrible. Took a long time to get out of the airport because of long lines at passport control.
The express train from the airport to Rome’s central train station is very efficient.

Only thing there is Termini Station.
That place is a massive mind fuck. I’ve been on the trains in Manila, so I know what chaos looks like.
Termini is a nightmare I’d never wanna revisit.

Just got back from Boston via Nashville on Delta and had a great experience outside of a 20 minute delay in Boston for some maintenance. Great service as usual from the hitters at Delta!

Just checked twitter and the general internet and yikes. Good thing the trip isn’t until next June. Hopefully they’ll get their stuff together before then and if not it’s plenty of time to find alternatives.

I don’t think LHR terminal 2 has been the problem lately. It’s the other terminals that are a shit show. Glad everything went smoothly. Enjoy London!

Is this for a Cabot trip? If yes, Halifax pretty much the only option. You could fly to Charlottetown PEI and drive from there. About the same time as Halifax to Cabot drive. Where you coming from?
Just returned from Greece - shocked that we had no delays on any legs from IAH-IAD-ATH and ATH-EWR-IAH on United. Our friends who flew through YYZ on Air Canada cannot say the same. To echo some others, avoid both Toronto and Air Canada like the plague for the time being.

What is transportation like to the Greek Islands?
My fiancé and I are looking into Croatia, Greek Islands, and Istanbul for our honeymoon, but have no clue on best means of travel for that area/how convenient or possible those legs are
