Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Ordinarily, Free.99 is a good price. But with SWA, there’s always a chance you get what you pay for…

The first part of that does not fill me with confidence. Ignoring the seat belt sign is a safety issue, and the easiest way to get hurt on an airplane. I wish pilots would take it as seriously as they do flight issues.

I always thought the general safety rule was that even if the lights off you should still have your seatbelt on at all times in your seat. As clear air turbulence is the most dangerous. I might be the odd man here but I never take mine off in the plane unless I’m getting up to go use the bathroom or something.

Fair point, let me try to be clearer. If the flight is experiencing turbulence, the switch to turn the light on is right above the pilot’s head and is almost always their first reaction once the bumps begin. I was only trying to say that if the pilots are chatty, they’re more likely to forget that it’s on rather than off.

Dialog in the cockpot is only regulated below 10,000 ft. Above that, casual chat is permissible if the workload of the flight is light enough. It’s amazing how they can stop a story mid thought, respond to the radio call and check in with the next controller, then resume where they left off.

Agreed. I’m fine if they leave it on at all times. Unless they’ve communicated that turbulence is happening/imminent, then you’re allowed to get up to go to the bathroom at your own risk, IMO.

You forgot the blurb about it being Mayor Pete’s fault though.

I respect SWA’s business model to “keep prices low”, but their prices are typically on the high side and then they just neglect their IT/scheduling infrastructure (which seems relatively important when you employ 66,000 people, of which a large amount fly around in coordination for a living). We have flights for a golf trip on SWA and I have some regrets.

Things are not looking great in the 6. Highlight of the article is when they compare the theft of gold to the “Great Maple Syrup Heist of 2011 and 2012”

Must have been some thick maple syrup if it took them parts of two years to steal it.

Video of the heist has been leaked:

Not sure where else to post this but might need my guy @Tron to monitor.

I am between jobs at the moment and made a spontaneous trip up to the Bay Area, I’ve got a buddy at Lake Merced that has been telling me I have an open invite whenever I am in town so I finally took him up on it. Don’t have a ton of private golf experience so this was a special one for me. Didn’t go crazy but bought a few things in the pro shop, including a super clean navy leather Winston putter cover. Fast forward to my journey home, I had an afternoon Alaska Air flight from SFO to SAN and got home right on time, great experience on the flight and in the airport, no complaints. Noticed my golf travel bag had the zippers at the bottom versus the top where I put them and under further investigation had a NOI (notice of inspection) tag inside my bag. I pulled everything out including the bag from the pro shop. Didn’t think anything of it until I couldn’t find the putter cover, the polo qzip and hat were in there but no cover… my buddy checked his locker where I stored the stuff during the round and nothing. Allegedly the baggage searches are monitored by camera so hopefully it just fell out and the guy didn’t notice but not a great look for SFO! Private golf proshop frequenters beware!!!

I always seem to have my checked luggage, especially ski and golf bags, inspected by TSA. For that reason small valuables and gifts almost always go in the carry on. Have lost a few good things to the good folks at DHS over the years. Nothing irreplaceable thankfully, and probably all accidents during a rushed inspection process, but still not great all the same.

I started leaving the paper NOI tags to rummage around in my travel case - at one point having accumulated close to 2 dozen of the fuckers spread around the interior of the case.

The tipping point however was landing in Charleston a few years back to find all of the zipped pockets of my bag open - every loose ball outside the bag - and the box of balls all taken out of packaging floating around as well, assholes.

ATL seized my rangefinder, dumped my laundry bag out, opened every pocket (tees everywhere) and removed one headcover.
