@Joezwickl Did you show the boys the piece of the old Yankee Stadium you can see on #2?
Wait…what?
On hole #7 if you look to the left you can see a flagpole. It’s connected to a piece of the outfield wall from the old yankee stadium. It’s on private property—very cool looking white house.
Too cool. Love little nuances like that!
Using ‘#’ when discussing Pinehurst can be very confusing
Don’t go back there though guys. The caretaker will call the resort and you will get a talking too.
Love this episode. In the rota of Carne, Dornoch, Cullen, St. Andrews, North Berwick, Lahinch, Royal Melbourne for infinite re-watches.
Though this makes me sad b/c I had my first trip to Pinehurst scheduled for MDW. Doubt that’s going to happen now.
It didn’t look like @MerchCzar and @Randy were having so much fun. I mean do we think getting ejected everywhere is fun? So clearly low handicaps including @6thFairway think its fun. Normal human beings are advised to know what they are getting themselves into at whatever the cost and caddie fee is.
Oh it’s definitely like getting punched in the face by golf.
Thanks for calling me a low handicap, though. That’s nice.
It was my favorite round of the trip and probably 2019. I think playing the hickories was a perfect way to get me out of my same old habits with my regular bag and just focus on solid contact and good fuggin’ tempo. I wouldn’t want to play them everyday, but it’s such a good change up. It also helped to play a match, so I wasn’t concerned with the score and had no benchmark for what a good round is for me with hickories, so it made it easier to just enjoy each shot.
The ejections were easier to handle because you expect them. I struggled early in the round, but from hole 7 on played really well and shot 83* (with max double in play for the final score but not for the match).
People just need to lower their expectations of how they are going to play and just roll with the punches. It’s fun.
I’ve only played #2 once, but I don’t agree with this. If you go into it with realistic expectations, you’ll have a blast. Don’t expect to set a personal best score, expect to putt of the green at least once (and probably multiple times), and embrace the ground game. If you do that, it’s a really fun course that is unlike most courses the majority of us play.
If you have to have all those rules to have a good time, you are deciding to have a good time, not necessarily the same as having a good time. Or not. Ha ha.
I remember SC…you and DJ were “too good” with the wood.
At the end of the day, what were the boys (and Lauren) more impressed with:
- Hueber’s round
- Joe’s meal

I’d add Lost Farm to this list.
If I could do a wishlist for content, my top ask would be a long form video of just hickory play. Simple and focused on hickories.
What I meant was you have to go into it with an open mind and appreciate it for what it is. Even if you play a local course, if it’s a difficult course you can’t go in thinking you’re going to light it up. Same thing. I would guess if you played the appropriate tees you should right around your average score on #2.
If you play the appropriate tees AND putt around the green.
It’s the actual foul pole too, isn’t it? Heard the dude that owns it won’t rent it out and is kind of a not good dude…Heard a Tiger story about that house if I’m not mistaken @Joezwickl?
