I know this is Tourist Sauce and not Strapped, but while we’re on the topic of music, does anyone know the song that plays with Icharito shows up around the 13th or 14th hole for Neil?

Who’s ready for wall-to-wall fudge content tonight?

Does anyone have Mackinaw Island war stories from vacations of old?

Mackinaw can suck it. It was a dreaded once a summer trip from Leelanau that every kid dreaded.

Wife and I went after we were engaged during a family vacation. Made the mistake of getting a tandem bike. Worst day of my life…

There better be some salt water taffy as well.

A day on Mackinac was an annual tradition for years. Best memory was stopping a runaway horses and carriage with my two cousins and my cousins future husband. This was the mid-90’s so details are hazy and have been embellished over the years. But the gist of it is - a family had rented their own horse drawn carriage, no driver I believe you received a brief training and that’s it - can’t imagine this is still possible as it seems like a horrible idea - horse got spooked or the dad lost the reins or a combo of both. The horse(s) took off toward a dead end in the road and potentially a large drop-off/hill (again details hazy). We all took off on our bikes and caught up to horses and got them to slow down and helped the dad take the reins. There was a lot of screaming, scared mom and kids.

If you ask my cousin about it now, he’d tell you they were only moments away from running off of a huge cliff and we took control of the horses.

We went a few years ago. Apparently there’s a putting course near the ferry stop? I can’t confirm because after doing the tour of the fort it started to rain so my son was peeved. We did eat some taffy though. And I can’t believe the insane prices to stay at the Grand Hotel. Looks like it’s decorated by my great aunt. But to each their own.

Having a place up in Cheboygan, we normally take the little man once or twice a year. We only go for the day, so it’s not too bad. He digs the horses. I can do without it, but I normally get a round at Wawashkamo on one of the trips so there’s that.

I do love the Keyhole Bar in Mac City. The wings there are fantastic. Plus the fudge and ice cream shops are all good, as my waistline can attest to.

Went a few times when I was younger but our place is over near Sleeping Bear so it’s a pretty big hike to get up there. Mostly remember getting ill from eating too much fudge and the overwhelming smell of horseshit. Pretty sure my brother and I started bitching enough that my parents decided it wasn’t worth the hassle.

Me when @Tron asks if the draft horses are Clydesdales:

rolls eyes “They’re obviously Belgians”

(My mom had a Belgian draft horse team for 20 years)
