I’m going to infer that Khalid El-Amin slayed BOTH Trajan Langdon and that hat in '99. That might earn him a lifetime achievement award.
Random question but was curious as to the shoes that @Randy was wearing? The low top sneaker style is something I’ve been trying to find for a while
This answers perfectly whether they are doing full double elimination or going LLWS route (aka Bullshit).
Could have just been a solid deal and deep sale rack situation? I remember having a sweepstakes of college bball shorts around ‘02 for that reason even though I’ve only been an IU fan my whole life. You can’t walk away from 50% off at Hibbitts or Galyans
Big Parquet Courts fans in this household. My about-to-graduate daughter just saw them live again.
Not fully caught up but this has been great reading. Also shocking as I’m a 34yo outlier who started at my employer almost seven years ago as a minty fresh engineering PhD. I plan to retire from this job eventually and it seems like I can say:
Older cousin attended KU and would give me some gear. And I was a huge Luke Axtell fan.
I bought a lot of basketball shorts off Eastbay that I wasn’t necessarily a fan of. More because I liked the colors or logos. MSU, Syracuse, Maryland, etc.
Pretty crazy to think some dudes started doing golf hot takes on twitter, and now here we are, and I have what some might say, is too much No Laying Up merch
Out of all the life choices that were covered in that episode, this may be the most disturbing
In that case, I have a website for you: 19nine | Retro College Basketball Shorts
I think this also explains many of my starter jacket choices as well during the early 90’s
@MrChickPhilA did you end up getting the rhoback polo too?
I sure did!
I did the same. Lots of Nike CBB shorts. No judgment.
Lol. I used to do the same thing. My parents would get so mad when more pairs would show up and I already had 20 pairs.
I fucking love Parquet Courts. Light Up Gold came out right around the time I cut my concert going from about 50 shows per year to maybe 15-20 (it’s now at roughly zero, covid notwithstaning). They’re one of the few acts I still make it a point to go see.
Anyway, the tale of @Randy working at Boyne, with no outside connections/distractions, sleeping when it’d dark and waking when it’s light, reminded me of those Facebook/Instagram/Twitter deals going around where it asks if you’d be willing to go to a remote cabin for a month with no electricity, internet, or phone service, if you got $100k at the end? I read those and I’m like “I’d pay $100k for that”. Sounds boring as a 20 year old. Sounds amazing right about now.
Hey, as a JD that has spent my entire career in public accounting, I’m only a lawyer when people are making fun of accountants. Also, I’m an accountant when people are making fun of lawyers.
Re: Big 4 (or Big 5, shout out to my 8 months at Arthur Andersen pre-implosion), I was Big 4/5 for about 5 years before going to a smaller tax firm for 10 years. Decided to give the big boys a try again and realized very quickly why I left the Big 4 to begin with. Now at a smaller regional accounting firm as our only sales tax person, and it’s great being the sole person in a given field. You can tell people anything and they’ll believe it!
