It hurts my heart a little to know that DeVries offered to build Champion Hill and he was turned down. I’ve always thought that Champion Hill was a level above Pinecroft, which I believe is not that different from Crystal Lake Golf Club. The good at Champion (5-8, 10, 12, 15) is very good. 18 isn’t bad, it just feels like it belongs on a different golf course.

Had no idea about the Devries offer on CH. That could have really taken the property from a solid 8 to more of a destination type place.

You’re right about Pinecroft being a level below CH in pretty much every aspect (except for lake views, I guess) but I still think the first five holes or so are quite strong. I actually haven’t played Pinecroft for about 3-4 years but went out to CLGC last summer and had a great time. Liquor license definitely gives that place a different vibe than the other two as well.
