Yea, I had that thought yesterday when I put together the bracket.
Maybe you could get a Dad to tell you if there were/are contingency plans for a Match 9 should those be needed.

Itās hard for a high capper to make a ton of pars, too. Iāve made par or better on 25% of holes in my last 20 rounds. That basically means a scratch ties or beats me 75% of the time with par or better.
Itās a crazy game. One year in the club championship I made an 11 on #17, which was our 8th hole of the day (teed off on ten), and was probably 10 or 11 over at that point, then played the last ten holes even.
Yes, different tees have different levels of difficulty, which is why they also have different ratings, which can change how many strokes are given. And everything you wrote could also be written from DJās perspective about how hard it is to beat a better golfer on the exact same course. By way of example . . . āwhen the match is in the balance on the back nine, itās much more difficult for the shorter player to keep up.ā
I mean, holy shit.
If anything, this entire discussion proves how self-absorbed human beings are (myself included), and that nobody notices or cares how other golfers are playing, even the golfers they play against.
Tried an interesting format with some buddies recently where instead of tying strokes to particular holes, the people stroking had a ābankā of strokes that they could use, down to net par, on any hole they wanted once they holed out. It actually worked pretty well. If a higher cap has a heater, they wonāt be making a bunch of net birdies & eagles, but also they get to essentially bank those strokes for later in the round when they may need them more. It also gives the low cap an ability to still win if they make a bunch of birdies.
I donāt know that thereās much of a structure other than Mr. Walker owns the place. There are some rumors about future plans that I donāt need to air on a public message board. He can rub some people the wrong way, but itās clear he loves the place, and probably sees it as his legacy. I donāt agree with everything heās done, but itās his labor of love. I feel like he can be a little hard on the staff, but I will say that in all my years there, weāve lost one core staff member, and that was when our GM retired. So heās clearly not driving any staff away.
He spent over an hour with me just telling me and my friend all about the place. It is clear like you said the places means A LOT to him.
was legitimately 3 of the most least fun golf holes Iāve played in my life
followed by legitimately 4 of the most awkward uncomfortable conversations later that night as we re-litigated the match (some people refused to believe a father of two with a house and career couldnāt card enough rounds through mid-May for all counting scores to be in 2021)
but in the end, fun was had by all (mostly)
Fuck it. Team Low Cap vs Team High Cap butthurt death match in Michigan whoās down
You know I am. Hell, Iāll volunteer to captain the scrubs.
I think we all know who the captain of team butthurt low cap would beā¦hopefully a mild Michigan summer would be a balm for any glandular issues
In, but only if everyone playing gets participation trophies
if itās at Kingsley, Iāll be one of the first to sign up.
On a single day in 2014, I played #13 4 times with two eagles, a birdie, and a pedestrian par. I nearly aced it the first time. The pin was sort of front right that day.
The following day, the pin was cut in the bowl on the right side. When I got up to the green, the dew line showed I nearly aced it again.
Oh, come on now. It wasnāt that bad. The boys were vibing on the front 9! It wasnāt until the back when I was 2 or 3 down and realized that you popped on like 4 of the next 5 did I let it get to me.
And as far as rehashing it later, legitimately have zero recollection of that. I got pretty loose in that afternoon fivesome wolf match. Whatever I said later that evening was probably my buddy Mr. Old Forester talking. He can be a jerk.
Was also glad to see that the staff stocked the mailbox on the 18th tee for the boys. Itās been dead empty during covid. Had to bring my own reinforcements last year.
No?
Fair.
