Tourist Sauce Season 7: Michigan Wine and Dine

Exactly. Part of the point is that you feel like it’s a real buddies trip that you get to vicariously join. A shut down golf course with no one else around doesn’t feel like that. Think of what the episode at the Old Course would’ve felt like if it was overproduced

Really looking forward to the next episode (or two) at Forest Dunes/The Loop as I was able to play there around the same timeframe in late July. Spectacular place but I wonder how much the guys can edit out the bugs in post production, even if they had FU money.

The best part of that episode was the random guy taking a club for a picture. I still laugh thinking about it

I find that Swilken Bridge content very triggering.

Last time I played The Old Course I was one over with one to play, I’d just hit driver-4iron to 10 feet from a back left pin at 17 and we arrived on the 18th tee as a busload of tourists marched across the fairway with their tour guide to spend 15min taking pictures on the bridge.

As each person did their pose for the camera, the rest of them just stood there in our way, aware but giving zero fuqs.

When they were done and trudged back to their bus, with nine of my mates looking on (three playing, one caddying for me and five who missed out on the ballot and walked the final few holes with us after having a sleep-in), a red-mist rage about the rudeness of it all and a stomach bug that would cause me to sleep in the car all afternoon rather than playing The New beginning to really make itself known, I proceeded to block not one but two drives dead right onto The Links road and make 7.

Honestly I look at that dumb fucking bloke posing on the bridge, I remember all that and I still feel debilitatingly angry two-and-a-half years later. Cunts.

Sounds like you made a 3 on your 3rd ball at least!

Sorry to hear that mate. When the C-word comes out, you know it’s a bad memory.

Just caught ep 3. Wow that was enjoyable.

Game of comparing the course to other great courses was fun.

And center line pond is some low key miltary base $20 course feature.

Also- should have asked how Andy has so much time to do so many pods. I can’t even listen to them all.

@Randy and @MerchCzar Diamond Springs or Bandon Crossings? Where would it rank as a course on Strapped?

What I love about that episode and the comparisons is that they are so in love with the Grand Rapids courses, but when someone mentions Mid Pines they freeze, and then choose Mid Pines. Having played Mid Pines, I love and respect that.

I never wanted a golf trip to Grand Rapids until I saw the video, now I do.

If I had, that would at least be a good, slightly ironic end to the story.

I didn’t hit a third ball. I just walked off the tee like “eh”, just really disappointed.

We found my second ball in play over near the fence. Not sure if it was thrown there or had bounced back off a building or a car.

I hit a gap wedge about four inches fat into the Valley of Sin, chipped up to about six feet and missed the putt.

By this stage I was really not feeling well, sweating profusely, consciously having to stop my arse from exploding, stomach making that storm-brewing noise… so at least I had a quality distraction from what had just happened.

Just the worst of all worlds, really!

Not related to comparing the courses at all, Neil chasing the Mega Bonus at Diamond Springs would bump up it’s rankings within the franchise considerably.

catching up on the szn, just finished the Grand Rapids episode, I had no idea @Randy was a big center line tree gui. You have to check out Hyland Hills up in Westminster, they have a great par 5 with a massive oak tree right in the middle of the fairway, you pretty much have to aim right at it and hope you can curl one left or right, a tee shot that definitely ruffles from feathers and always sparks a debate.

This is a little like saying you had no idea @Soly likes the color blue - probably indicative of a balanced life, but it’ll get your fan club membership revoked right away.

We could start with a bed for the Knight every day of the trip!

(Kidding kidding. I get a bed…. most of the time)

I have a screenshot that I inadvertently stumbled into but will wait to share until the end of the episode. I’m a little behind, but it’ll be worth the wait
