Tourist Sauce Season 7: Michigan Wine and Dine

Skyline (and even Gold Star) puts Detroit Coneys in a body bag. Better cheese, better chili, maybe not quite as good of a snap on the dog though.

Baobob was the culinary highlight of our stay in Detroit (and of course, honorable mention to Embers at DTW.

I have to give Skyline a try. I just know American is nothing compared to Lafayette.

Baobab is incredible, and so is YumVillage right down the street - sort of an Afro-Caribbean vibe.

I’m guessing you guys were staying in that New Center area? The Airbnb looked sick

Absolutely fantastic @djpie. No criticisms at all. I think you guys absolutely conveyed the spirit most of us local Metro Detroiters want to see prevail quite nicely.

There are going to be a lot of posts here proclaiming you guys should have hit this course or that course. Don’t take it personally, or as a criticism. Some one in the main pod mentioned us Michiganders are a proud bunch. That rings true. We all want to see our home courses featured. I would have loved to see more of Rackham. But given the circumstances of the weather I understand why the focus (golf wise) was on the DGC. Besides, you guys gave a ton of time to Karen Peek. Big ups for that. She’s an amazing person.

There’s a mind boggling amount of great golf here. Seeing this content created in places I’ve been to, frequent, and love made by people I respect and admire is pretty damn cool.

I’m rambling. Damn was that great. I cannot wait to see the other 8 episodes.

And for the record, Buddy’s is average. Loui’s Pizza in Hazel Park is the GOAT.

Would be hard to choose from the over 6,000 courses in MI…i would love a breakdown from Neil how that number was computed

Lol. I’m gonna give @MerchCzar a break. It’s like bodies of water here. You can’t drive but so far without seeing one.

That is genuinely interesting. I will never forget that.

GR is great and so are the courses. We’ll agree to disagree re DS (note: I’m not saying it’s not a good course), but I’m glad you guys had a great time in this neck of the woods!

It just depends on what you are trying to do. If it’s a Michigan bachelor party, I think you’d have a hard time finding a better weekend than staying in downtown Grand Rapids and playing the DeVries trio.

If one of those courses is a bookend on a Kingsley, Arcadia, Forest Dunes weekend…then yah, it’s probably a little out of place.

Exactly.

Started watching during halftime of the thunder game. My wife happened to look up right at this scene.

Immediate response from her ā€œewww flip flops; get the hell out of here!ā€ @Randy my wife has offered to buy you a pair of close-toed dancing shoes at your earliest convenience. Great first episode, flip flops notwithstanding!

No one ordered the chocolate milk at Lafayette, though. Watching the guy pour it from basically across the room is worth the price of admission.

This was so so good. It’s so great seeing my home state get the tourist sauce treatment. Living here, as it is anywhere maybe, it’s easy to take for granted. But honestly, I’d take summer in Michigan and Michigan golf up against pretty much anything and feel pretty good.

I can’t wait to see all the other episodes on courses I’ve not hit yet, it’s going to get my to correct those oversights for sure. Great job as always fellas!

Tell your wife, in my defense, I had no inkling that I’d be dancing when I left the house. A true serendipitous moment to connect with the Detroit Tango Club

Question for the guys, how bad were the roads as you made your way through the state?

Don’t remember them being bad at all

You practice in difficult situations so that you are doing it for real it’s easier!!!

Honestly one of my favorite parts of the first episode was, I think DJ saying ā€œThis isn’t Big Meechā€ in the Van.

Strapped Boys living good on this trip.
