Tourist Sauce Season 3: LA to San Francisco

I’m weirdly excited for this episode considering it’s Pasatiempo. One of the few courses that deserves hole-by-hole coverage. At least the back 9 for sure.

Does anyone feel like this match is on where the better seed is actually the underdog?

Randy’s game is is a bit of a mystery to me. I feel like the scummy NLU producers have done a very good job of making the audience think he’s worse than he is. But then again I could be wrong.

I’ve been told by someone who has played with all of them that they are all better players than the appear to be in the videos.

I’m guessing it would be true for me too if I was in the same position.

I don’t think that’s the case. But I DO think that they are all rapidly getting better now that this IS their full time job.

I’ve noticed this as well. Especially with Tron and DJ.

Neil too. His handicap is down to 4.8 right now.

I didn’t think of him since he played terrible in the last couple episodes of TS, but I suppose those were filmed 5 months ago now.

those were filmed in December. I watched him play in May and he was very good. They all were.

They all seem to be very good. Noticing DJ is starting to take it a little more seriously and swing really well.

I do think if any of us were playing as many places as they are as much as they are, with brand new fitted callaways, playing with pros and getting tips from GG, our handicaps would be dropping too. Not a dig at them - more power to them for the opportunities, it’s why we watch them.

All getting better and all still battling the same demons it seems.

Tron = chipping yips
Randy = putting from 3-8 feet?
DJ = speed? I don’t really know what DJ’s weakness is
Neil = Icarito’s demons
Soly = afraid to go low?

Was that at the Steam Shovel?

Hot take: now that Tron has fixed his chipping in Reno (and appears to have picked up speed somehow) he’ll have the lowest GHIN of the crew soon.

I have a hard time seeing Tron overtaking Soly. Soly got it below scratch. That’s a very different world than 3 something index.

There is no substitute for getting better than playing lots of golf, but playing lots of golf isn’t there full time job.

I’m going to need to see more than a couple holes of proof to believe that.

I’m not sure these are still as accurate, that’s what I’m saying. Of course whatever our main demon is will rear it’s head over and over, but they are all much better now.

@munihack7 no, Sweetens.

@VelvetSteve No, playing lots of golf isn’t the full time job, but when your full time job is golf content creation, you get a HELL of a lot more opportunity. I think Soly’s swing is the best, but he’s dramatically helped by getting to play in so many higher pressure situations all the time.

Fair enough. Tron is still battling chipping yips based off the Reno IG stories from this week. That much is VERY clear.

The high pressure situations for Soly is what I envy. I play tons of golf, but mostly at my club by myself. Playing in front of pros or with a camera on you a lot would have to make tournament play easier.

Did you guys see the trackman numbers from Reno? Tron is only like 1 mph behind Soly surprisingly. Soly’s swing looks much better, but Tron’s is sneaky fast somehow.

Chipping yips are all mental, if something clicked mentally and his confidence is back, they’ll be gone.

But yeah, let’s check back this week to be sure.
