You play Island View a lot? That’s normally where I play as my father-in-law has been a member there for 20+ years. Unfortunately I haven’t even swung a club this year due to a medical issue, but I typically get in most of my rounds out there.
once a year…for the Goat Track Open (that’s tongue in cheek, we love the place, it’s just there a lot of high handicappers in this group, and half our office are at private clubs, so it’s a subtle dig at them)
There’s no rounding. Course handicaps are whole numbers.

no doubt. it is one of my faves.
I dunno man, I think they just had bad luck. I took this with an iphone -4, so IMO it can look pretty good.

Kind of off topic but I’m heading to the Iration show in North Myrtle Beach tonight. Likely would have never heard of them if it weren’t for NLU. Really looking forward to it.

In a sorta adjacent sandbox, I had had a few of their songs on some rando Spotify playlist I made some years back. Didn’t realize until very recently that this dude that features in some of their #content was the same guy!
I actually hadn’t heard the song that they put into this season of Tourist Sauce. It’s great.

Silly questions here- if you’re all playing the same course, why not just use everyone’s handicap instead of messing with the course slope?
The whole point of slope is to give more strokes to certain handicap levels based on difficulty of the course.
An 18 HCP NEEDS more strokes on a 145 slope than on a 105. So against a scratch golfer (or a 2?), they will get more strokes with their course handicap of 23 vs 18 (or whatever the math comes out to).

That makes since- I thought the original post said they just added together. Guess I’ll be more interested in using course handicaps so I can get more strokes…
I feel compelled to gripe that I’m a little bit annoyed with Rustic Canyon right now. I’ve golfed there a couple dozen times, I like the place, and they have always sent occasion emails encouraging return visits. But in the 33 days since the Tourist Sauce episode featuring the course, they have sent me 13 emails (plus another from GolfNow hyping the place). That’s spam territory. For comparison, I got 6 total emails from them in the two months prior to the episode. Give it a rest, guys.
Slope is a measurement of how much more difficult the course is for a high handicap than it is for a scratch golfer. So you use the slope so that you’re not giving the guy with the highest handicap too few strokes.
