Following up…what is the origination of the game? Never heard of it in many trips to Ireland and countless hours in pubs. Is it a @djpie game or one he learned somewhere?

I’ve found to nail it, for me, its 2.5 sips on the nose.

Don’t forget Tasmania!

I was taught it at a pub in Murroe (middle of nowhere) in 2010, so it’s at least that old

Also, the curse I was taught isn’t a lifetime of bad sex, just seven years. This is either because (a) the Irish would never condemn you to a lifetime of anything, or (b) “seven years bad sex” rolls of the tongue better than “a lifetime of bad sex”

You are absolutely right. 7 years. God bless the Irish.

I’ve been playing it for a few years here is NYC but have no idea where it originated

I feel like this joke has gone criminally underappreciated.

Fantastic reference. What a chilling performance…that and “where did you sleep last night”. How close to the suicide was that?

One of the best albums of my childhood…and best unplugged ever.

Absolutely, said also as a bigger PJ fan.

Yeah, I had that album on repeat for about 3 to 4 days straight back in April around the 25th anniversary of Kurt’s passing.

Read this at that same time as well. Definitely worth the read: Three Feet From God: An Oral History of Nirvana ‘Unplugged’ - The Ringer

Unplugged performance was November 1993, his suicide was early April 1994

That Ringer oral history that @tj_denawli linked to is a great, great read

Reading the oral history now. Awesome.

An no revisionist history at all, or hindsight bias. Watching it in real time, even at a young age, we all knew how special and good of a show this was.

I worked at a law office as an admin/paralegal for a couple years before moving into corp compliance. I am happy to come aboard if openings are available. Maybe I’ll finally go back for that law degree. Its a there a program for GCA litigation?

i havent watched it, but supposedly this “docudrama” was made in support of the Courtney killed Kurt conspiracy theory

This aired the first time on MTV the Thursday night just before Christmas break. So at school we were really not doing much of anything that day anyway. There were a few people who were like, “Ugh, they didn’t play Teen Spirit or Lithium, it was lame.” But that was an obviously bad take even then. That performance was so unbelievable it didn’t matter if you only knew 2-3 of the songs they performed, or if you were a music geek and knew every cover song.

A lot of us were somewhere in between. Like, I knew About a Girl and I knew of the Meat Puppets (but wasn’t super familiar with the songs they played) but I didn’t know the Bowie cover and I definitely didn’t know the Carpenters cover or the Leadbelly cover.

Seriously. I hardly knew any of what was played at the time and it didn’t matter one bit.
