Could be a VERY dumb question…but is there a competition aspect to the event?
Not a dumb question at all. We bill the event as equal parts Strantz Tribute, golf Ironman and fun.
Each one we’ve done is different. This one is more of a celebration (of the restoration and reopening) than a competition. I.e. play your own ball, whatever tee you want etc. chew off as much or little as you wish. This the morning round.
For the new Iron Maverick routing (reverse routing) we will have an individual champ for those that wish to compete for the course record. If others would rather play a match within their own groups, or develop their own games against other groups, they are free to do it.
We also put our own twist on long drive (qualifiers on 3 holes - smash off finals in front of whole field to crown champ) and closest to pin (firing squad style, everyone hits at once).
Good questions! Got more surprises too that we won’t announce until morning of at the event since some are unique to the day.
Played there this morning as the first ones off.
You guys are in for a real treat, the course is amazing!
Maybe the best collection of Par 3’s I’ve ever played.
Since there is no formal competition, should there be a NLU/First Flight competition?
Let’s do it, maybe a little best ball between the groups. Open to anything
Just wanted to say thank you for all the support from those who played, talked it up, wished they could or hope to play in a one in the future if we’re lucky enough to do it again! Our hearts are full - I hope yours are too! Quick preview of the Firing Squad Finish on Day 1. THANK YOU AGAIN! Recap coming soon!
Couldn’t be there, but I was (accidentally) wearing my Tot Hill hoodie today while playing in support.
Can’t wait to hear more about it, and (hopefully) see more photos.
That’s a special place.
Had to bail on the event but just finished up a solo 18 at the Farm. Well worth the hour drive from major hubs in the area.
There are some spectacular holes, but I think 10 - 13 are the standouts. Honorable mention for 5.
Staff is really great, they said IM3 was a blast! Sign is proudly displayed on the 18 barn.
Tying a bow on this with the recap for IM3 at Tot Hill. Check out the story & pics here!
For those that were curious that couldn’t make it, this includes a full description of each hole, along with the scorecard of the reverse routing (aka The Iron Maverick Course) as well!
If you were there, you might have gotten your picture in the paper! Thanked everyone before but will say it again, we appreciate the support!!
