I poured my heart into The Bull #8
But I mean that’s an atrocious hole

I have zero doubt this collective would rank TLCC the worst golf course in the state. As a former member, it would be a great outing.

Nominations for #9?
Autumn Ridge No. 9
A course that is just over 6,000 yards from the ‘tips’, this hole requires a nearly 250-yard carry to reach the fairway from the blue tees.
The fairway narrows to less than 10 yards wide from about 100-190 yards out and features a large tree on the left edge of the fairway at about 100 yards.
The Oaks #9. IYKYK.
So I don’t know, par 4, 5, etc.?
I really wanna play The Oaks now, at least once just to experience it
Be there at 9pm and you’ll understand
Par 5, up hill, sort of a double dog leg. Tee Shot is tricky. You can play a 225-250 yard shot straight down the fairway or you can be aggressive and try to cut the corner, as I have shown below. The whole hole cants hard right to left if you are standing on the tee box looking down the fairway, so if you are right handed and hit any sort of right to left ball, it is going through the fairway. Doesn’t sound horrible, but wait there is more! The area I have circled red is just off the fairway, but sits about 10 feet below the fairway. Your only hope if you end up down there is to chip up to where the first fairway ends. Now, say you are a longer hitter for us amateurs and hit a straight shot 270 yards on the carry, as shown with the distance measurer, that ball is ending up in the woods since it will land on a down slope in the fairway and be propelled forward.
Now, you are looking at your approach shot, no matter how you got to the fairway. You are faced with a 180-200 yard approach shot if you want to go for the green in two, all up hill. Again, the hole cants very hard right to left, as shown by the red arrows, making any type of draw for a right hander extremely difficult to hold. Plus, you are flirting with very large oak trees (get it!) on the left that make playing a cut difficult. You can choose to lay up to the second fairway, but the grass is always in terrible condition. Either soggy from over watering or rain, or you are playing Russian Roulette with divots. The green is meh. To be honest, I am usually so pissed off by this point, that I hardly remember the green because I just want to get to the next hole, which also sucks.
TLDR - Up hill, double dog leg, par 5, that cants hard right to left and forces most shots either into the rough, woods, or OB. The Oaks stinks, don’t play it. You could die, literally.
From 9 on that place is just so, so miserable. I guess maybe 12 is… fine, so long as you like the sound of the interstate.
Like genuinely, @Badger_Wisco weigh in as well, worse than The Bull or Twin Lakes (which I’ve also never played but @PTM is a credible source)?
Yes having played all 3
No.
Personally, I hate golf being a safe harbor from the rat race of every day life. I’m glad so many are built right next to interstates.
Are you asking if #9 at The Oaks is worse than #9 at The Bull or Twin Lakes? Yes, yes it is. I actually find #9 at The Bull to be one of the least offensive holes. The Bull starts with a nice hand shake opener and then you are like, WTF for the next 7 holes. Then you get to 9 and its like waking up from a fever dream.
Only to go right back into a fever dream on the back nine…
The guys who are members in my league insist the right fairway over the pond is the play
I meant the entire course, but yes 9 is actually a good hole. I’d argue they should flip the 9s and what is currently hole 9 should become the 18th
The entire course that is the bull is leaps and bounds better than the oaks. Twin lakes is probably about the same as the oaks all things considered.
