Weird gift - actual brother
Weird trendy bullshit that actually sucks and isn’t cool - brother in law.

Same but don’t tell @AlCzervik or else he’ll force me to drink and watch Lord of the Rings
Wouldn’t it be cool if a roost used that as a logo??
The volume of that drink screams Wisconsin because if anybody else had it:
Could be a good name for an event too now that you mention it
Someday maybe there will be a roost like that. Someday.
Seems unlikely
@jwfickett Teases incoming…
1st time making our own pasta/gnocchi. Job was a freaking pro and him and his wife taught us how to be better cooks tonight. Helped that they are wonderful people I wish we lived closer to. (We added more butternut squash to this per advise while mixing)
God damn man, the amount of decor in that place.
I will agree with this for personal old fashioneds, but I believe the best old fashioneds involve some muddlin’
Such a fun night and I wish I took a more insta worthy photo at the end but it was too damn good not to demolish right away. Their plating was more Iron Chef worthy. It was savory, buttery, pillowy, crunchy, perfect spice. Autumn in my mouth. Will make again and again. A+ night with A+ people.
I’m willing to have you cook this again for me, it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. I’ll provide wine, some terrible jokes, and my mediocre company.
@jwfickett now how much to bribe you to come to Wisconsin for the Ope. Not because of cooking, but because I really would like to meet you!
Suprised you haven’t tried to recreate the smoked old fashioned from the Kingsley Inn. Made with real smoke!
I like a 2:1 (by weight) rich demerara syrup for old fashioneds. And only a bar spoon (∼.25oz) in the cocktail. A bar I used to work at made a salted dem syrup for old fashioned that was pretty awesome as well, but if you’re keeping it classic 2:1 dem to water is ideal.
Preferably bonded bourbon. Old Grandad and JTS Brown are excellent options at fantastic price point for cocktails.
