Any known details on if the event will be a singles event or a team event (2 or 4 ball) and the total number of spots?

This course will be so much fun in September. The greens yesterday were shaggy and a little slow in the AM due to all the rain this week. By the time we finished our 36th hole of the day they had dried out and were running faster.

Can’t wait to see how they’re running today after being cut and rolled!

Sept at NCC is often the best as it is dry. After the Spooner (the week before this outing) the greens will be “speedy”. For the Spooner they are goofy fast and pins in corners on slopes. Think back right on No 1 to start your day! Middle back left on12 is another beauty as is back middle on 14- I mean two steps from the back fringe. When The Land is firm it is beyond excellent. Oh I forgot maybe the fastest putt-front right on 11. Busy!

Eyeballing this event from Nor Cal… looks like you all have a really cool gem on your hands… Really hoping the price tag is somewhat reasonable and the NLU Gods grant me their blessing.

Tough to beat the views man, and believe it or not the course is even better.

“It’s not the best course I have ever played but it is my favorite course I have ever played.” - @munihack7 …Never truer words spoken, this place is SO underrated, especially Nationally.

Greetings Everyone… so I thought it prudent to get a message out on this thread sooner than later. Out here in California; and I had the pleasure recently to play in my first NLU Event up in the Seattle area (the Olympic Prolific). First time ever doing anything like it; was an adrenaline shot to say the least. Became a Nest member right after the good times came to a close.

I’ve got the bug now in a big way. I’m sure many of you have been where I am. Definitely a good feeling to have. More than anything just want to get on your radars regarding my interest in visiting for the Highlander. Logistically, not going to pretend I don’t need help with the ins and outs of things.

This just feels like the one for me to get on board with. Pricing is definitely a factor, but hopefully the Leadership and the course can work out something friendly for us Straped types. So yea looking forward to joining the conversation. Good talk see you out there.

Never played in an NLU event before but this sounds like a great one. Drove by the course on my way back from Grand Marais last week and it looked awesome. Excited to see details when they come out.

Even if I am not able to come out; which would suck cause I’m getting stoked on getting up there. For anyone not from the area flying in… I have done a fair bit of research over the weekend, and things are definitely heating up for Minnesota for these dates. I’ve booked something even if I have to cancel. For those looking for a great transportation angle; Jefferson Lines picks up right at the Airport and travels straight up to Duluth with some solid timelines for travel purposes. Maybe $30 roundtrip which is crazy low. Not looking to rent a car for $500 solo…

Sidebar; do any of you locals have angles on Hotel for out of staters; never know until you ask.

Duluth is notoriously tough for hotels in the summer, specifically weekends. However, you can also stay in Two Harbors (25 minutes north, Cloquet (25 minutes south) or Superior, WI (15 minutes).

For the budget minded there is also a hostel option in Duluth:

Ha! Yes… the Hostel there is a great option. I called them up too. I’ve got a sleeping in cots with strangers phobia unfortunately. If they had single rooms I’d already have been booked! I’ll take a look at that 25 min north spot right now.

Avoid the Canal Park area if you want to save money although it is a good area for things to do. NCC is smack dab in a residential area and the closest lodging would be the Edgewater on London Rd. There are lots of cabins going up the North Shore but they are pricey as it is leaf season and the weekend.
I would suggest staying up by Miller Hill Mall. There are several places up there but it is a little farther to commute. You really do not want to travel from Two Harbors or Cloquet. Superior might be a mess with the work on the infamous “can of worms” freeway. Just some thoughts from an ex-resident.
Couple years ago we stayed at the Comfort Suites at Canal Park and it was very nice but $235 a night which always frosts my cheapskate self.
