Aug/Sept is out for me this year i’m afraid.
Would happily sign up for Barnbougle 2024 right now!
Any appetite for a more low-key Sydney event this year?
Would be In for a barnbougle trip 100%
I play most of my golf at Bonnie Doon in Sydney.
Have heard great things about the Doon. Still have to get over there and take up @bigLeftMiss on his offer of a round and some wines. (No idea if he still even logs in on here!)
My only experience was playing BD on the Trackman at Golfspace… looks like a fun track
2024 would make sense given the arrival of 7 mile and the potential for a full long weekend worth of golfing glory. March is probably the best time of year for Tassie golf, so we could pencil that in and get as many as possible to lock in. Could we get to 16 with a timeline out that far??
Did we come up with a roost name yet?
I’m about as uncreative as they come so will leave the naming discussion to others.
As far as getting 16 people together for a Tas event, I’d be confident i could get 3 people at least…
I can get one other almost certainly, and a third possibly.
I don’t hate ANZAC as a Roost name. Links us together and mystifies the Yanks.
I’d definitely be in, with 1 other very likely and a couple others who’d likely be keen.
Instead of any kind of tournament to determine who represents ANZAC at the Roost Club Championship, it’s just a question of who has the spare coin and annual leave any given year!
Good thing my long service is due end of this year!
Hey all, first time poster here
Love the idea of a Barnbougle trip, William. I know it’s hard to line up a date that suits everyone but it’s worth trying.
I think this is perfect and a decent runway to make it a solid outing.
If we could do 7 mile, cape Wickham, dunes and lost farm all rolled into one trip sounds like it could be pretty special.
Could even be enough time to encourage some of our friends from across the pond to plan a trip
The ANZAC roost!
If you’re in town let me know and we can sort a game!
Have dumped a message in the NLU Perth WhatsApp to see if anyone else from here is keen. Hopefully with 14+ months notice, some of them can get up for it.
If we can avoid the 1st of March please, that’s the missus birthday, haha.
If you’re interested in the progress at 7 Mile, here’s a story I did a couple of months ago
Definitely in for a 2024 trip, and reckon I could have 1 or 2 more who’d be keen too! Already have one locked in for March 2023 with my brother who’s flying over from Ireland which I cannot wait for! Can’t do this Aug/Sep either unfortunately as heading back home to Ireland for 2 weddings (will not be good to my wallet)
Got the usual response from the NLU Perth group - basically crickets

Howeva! Have tentative approval from the wife for next March/April, so that’s a win.
Just had a quick peruse on the Barnbougle website. No online bookings past January 2024; which probably makes sense and we’d almost certainly need some sort of a la carte option for a group of 12-16 regardless.
Well this all sounds like something that has to happen.
Looking ahead it looks like a long weekend is on March 11, 2024 so we might have a target date to work around.
King Island is awesome, but will add on an extra ~$1,000 to everyone’s budget, so that might be an optional add on for people over and above the Roost portion of events. Current thoughts (subject to alllll the changes and suggestions);
Friday 8th - Get to Barnbougle and play Bougle Run (at least)
Saturday 9th - Lost Farm (and Bougle Run more than likely)
Sunday 10th - Barnbougle then drive to Hobart (possible walking tour of Arm End for the psychos)
Monday 11th - 7 Mile Beach (possible 36??)
Optional add on??
Tuesday 12th - Flight from Hobart to King Island with 18 at Ocean Dunes
Wednesday 13th - 36 at Cape Wickham
Thursday 14th - 18 Ocean Dunes before flying out
