one more round left for me on sunday
I haven’t played since Sweetens a few weeks ago. And as cool as it would be to have consecutive rounds at Sweetens and Pinehurst, I’m not sure that’s a recipe for success.
Tough scene! Our good golf season will be pretty much wrapped up when we get back. We’ll have drizzly days on wet courses, but that’s about it haha
Coming in fresh is always a recipe for success
Looking forward to next week. Thanks for the add @jayslagle
I don’t consider myself a PXG marine, but my bag says otherwise. Newer clubs for me and enjoy them
Driver: Mavrik Sub Zero 8°
Fairway: PXG 0341x 13°
Hybrid: PXG 0317 19°
Irons: PXG 0211 4-G
Wedges: Cleveland Tour Action Reg. 588 56, 60 (Very old and rusty)
Putter: Tad Moore Pro 1 LN w/ SS grip
Ball: ProV1x
Non golf item: CBD cream for occasional wrist soreness. Pre-round dreams a golf scoring grandeur. Post-round Bourbon or Wine after shooting 86
Snack: ChikFila chicken mini combo and a black coffee in the morning. Usually a Coors light by hole 4 after a string of bogies/doubles. A cliff bar or banana for balance.
Not sure who is on deck for WITB…

I’ve got two open spots on Sunday afternoon at Mid Pines as a guest of @CrucialTaunt. 2:25/ 2:35. I’m pretty sure the greens fee is $120. If you’re interested let me know and I’ll add you to the list.
@davidc and I were going to do 2p at MP, but sounds like a mixup and that might have fallen through.
We would happily take any other open spots now
I think @ChickPhilA expressed interest in the WhatsApp group first. If they don’t want them they’re yours
Sliding into @CrucialTaunt’s WhatsApp right meow to cover all bases
Haha
Sorry was at work then at golf/golf club Ryder cup draft/dinner and missed everything. The mr chickphila and I still need to get together on what the hell we are doing Sunday (aka drive home after southern pines or stick around NC because I now may have work stuff down there starting the 12th).
Others if you have more concrete plans and can for sure do mid pines go ahead. I want to say yes we will play but we still have to discuss what’s going on. So yah. That’s where I’m at.
Looking for suggestions-- planned out my transport from RDU through the resort, for the obvious convenience factor. Was curious about rental car prices vs. resort transport and I feel like I’m slightly getting eviscerated by booking the shuttle. Anyone rented a car and drove down / know if they charge a per day parking fee? Looks like a lot of you are driving, so I doubt we’d need the extra mid-size…any thoughts/recommendations?
There is no parking fee at the Resort.
No parking fee. Easy drive.
Last year I rented a car for 4 days and it was $20 a day through Hotwire. Isn’t the shuttle like $90? Honestly, given Covid, renting seems better than sitting in small bus with who knows how many strangers for an hour. Also, super easy pick up and drop off.
I’m opting for the rental car. 7 days for $267. Seemed worth the mega convenience gains.
key word here. Ill be flying in to RDU thursday am and looking forward to the drive in to mentally prepare. Golf after flying mad early in the morning is a tough transition
Great advice, refugees!
Less than a week
Of course we saved the best for last, @JScore, come on down!!
Driver - Cobra King F7+ 8.5°
Any time I have it set higher than 8.5° I hit balloon shots. We are nothing short of hot and cold, and this year I spent a lot of time eyeballing different shaft options to start tinkering, but would rather blow cash on shoes, tees, and merch. I know how to work this club both ways, but don’t often keep it on the planet.
3Dub - Cobra Bio Cell+ 13.5°
If the only miss is left, this club rarely disappoints.
Cleveland Mashie Hybrid 20.5°
This one was out of the bag for a long time. Could not put a swing on it that would function and resemble golf so I kept the 3 iron in the bag. A couple seasons ago, on a whim, I tossed it back in to mix things up and give me a club that I felt had more utility over my 3 iron and it’s been a staple since.
4-PW Cobra King Forged MB/CB
Had these out of the bag for a large part of the season due to completely losing it and getting so mentally wrecked I needed a different look at address. I startes playing some vintage Spalding Greg Norman blades for awhile and just in th last month put them back in the bag and it’s been fine just fine. Excited to have them aboard for Pinehurst.
Titleist Vokey SM7 50°
Jet Black finish I tried to strip off but only faded so not yet getting that raw rust I’m craving.
CPFA 54° and 58°
Shout-out Refuge Silk Road. I love these things. The grind is so good for what I prefer. I took out SM7s for these and really want to get a 50° to swap for the remaining SM7 in the bag currently.
Bettinardi Studio Stock #8
Shout-out @nanderson. Came dinged up. (USPS fumbled it.) Love the feel and look. Also have a Scotty Cameron Newport that has been collecting dust since I got this one.
Covers:
Bobby Golf x Slackertide “The Dude” Putter Cover.
This one’s got the most run this year and is coming to Pinehurst. Some good bench strength in this category though.
Rep the Step x Push Cut Municipal Golf Don’t Care Driver Cover
Enjoy this one a lot. New this year. Stands out without being out if control.
Nest 3 Wood Cover
Very little variety here. Have some alternative options, but this vibes well with the Vessel bag and tie-dye cover.
Seamus Roulette Hybrid Cover
Literally one of two options. Need to draft some new talent for this position.
Bag:
Vessel VLX Stand Bag
Murdered out. New addition this year. Great carry bag with great balance. Mulled over buying it for awhile and do not regret the purchase.
Non-Golf item that I feel is necessary that hasn’t been mentioned is this waterproof medical tape and liquid bandage. Can be a lifesaver for tolerating blisters, callous rips, etc.
Airport snack, I keep it simple. Black coffee mostly unless I’ve got time for a sit down during a layover. Then it’s whatever calls to me. If I’m traveling forpleasure, hit me with Jack and Ginger Ale and some pringles or anything super salty like that.
So. Damn. Stoked.
Anyone who is attending that hasn’t posted their WITB, do it. Let’s go
