The Darkroom: general photography posts and discussion

How do we feel about selling gear in here?! :eyes: I have a Fuji 23mm F1.4 LM WR that’s as close to new as it gets. Just testing the waters and figured this didn’t belong on the Silk Road.

Just keep the ā€œI’m selling to a friendā€ ethos of TSR and I think it will be just fine.

If you don’t gain any traction, I just offloaded my canon EF gear on MPB.com. It wasn’t as much as I would get private sale, but it freed up space in my garage and put some money in my pocket to invest in my Sony Gear.

  • @Renlibrarian, oh 100%. I actually thought I had it sold to a friend of a friend last week, but he backed out.

  • @alightpainter I tried setting up a trade on MPB for a 90mm f2, but they lowballed the shit out of me. I’ve tried to put that same trade together in local Facebook marketplace’s, but can’t get any traction.

  • @jsg_nado BUT… do you have the 1.4 aperture with the linear motor and weather sealing?!:eyes::joy: No, I’ve owned the f2 version before and it’s an absolute monster for its price. I’d probably pick it back up at some point if I crave that 35mm look. I just always go for the 33mm f1.4 and this 23mm is just collecting dust in the box.

Keep it going! I need to spend more time with my camera to be able to do some good things with it.

To this point!

Walking back home in Oakland the other night, the marine layer had crept in giving us a night sky that looked really cool, all I had was my phone in my pocket but amazing what you can do with an iPhone and a little post.

I know the large Randall will appreciate this - but a few ā€œinfrastructureā€ photos from last season (really tried to nail the sunset colors that matched the school colors)

So I guess this has been mentioned a million times and blah blah.

But

I’m fed up of playing top courses over in the UK and not capturing them, so going to up my camera game.

At this point looking at a Sony A6000 - is there anything else I should consider around the same budget? And what sort of lense will best suit capturing the courses?

Thanks in advance.

That’s a great starter kit to get in to photography!
Can’t go wrong with that price either (I think Adorama has a sale going too…)

So, my wife has absolutely nuked her phone into oblivion and is needing a replacement in the very near future. With that being said, I asked her what she wants in a phone. All she cares about is the camera evidently. With that being said, is the latest iPhone pro max the best out there? Or is there anything in the android space that can top it?

Google pixel is very good - I believe it tops the iPhone by a little

(Plus it’s not apple which is a huge bonus)

Sale would be handy if I wasn’t in the UK.

I can pick a body up for about £260 looking at it.

I’m a big fan of the Fujifilm X lineup - I have an XT-30 body and a larger XT-5, they both have very similar features but the XT-30 is a compact body so it’s nice if space is a concern. The Fuji X series lenses are all fantastic as well.

I actually would part with the XT-30 since it’s redundant kit for me at this point but not sure if shipping would make it impractical with you being in the UK.
