How many world heavyweight championships does he have?
And Wisconsin state hockey
High School kiddos show a TON of emotion - super fun to capture such an exciting tournament
These are fantastic. Especially with 15 up on the glass. Great stuff!
Yeah that was the first game of the day too - I was JACKED UP with the framing
I love watching hockey teams celebrate. Awesome pictures
Thanks!
Oh yeah - the high school players and student sections are always a VERY cool dynamic and energy
Excellent shots!
Anyone take photos while playing, what’s the etiquette there? Doing a solo golf trip here soon, would love to get some photos but don’t want to end up on the Worst Pairings thread.
Phone only pics or can I use a higher end camera, as long as I’m not holding up play?
Yeah, just be sure to keep up. If I’m using my camera, I’ll usually mention it on the first tee and ask them to tell me of the shutter noise is bothering them. And if they seem comfortable with it, I’ll also grab socials or an email in case I take a good picture of them during the round.
Yup, I use a peak design capture clip and will even shoot in “silent mode” which drops the shutter noise (but uses a global shutter so you can get some weird artifacts on club swinging).
Treat it like a pro event. No photos till after impact, don’t be directly in someone’s line, etc etc
I also ask whoever I’m playing with if they’d like to be in any of the photos just out of courtesy. 9 times out of 10 they’re cool with whatever.
Man diving back in here is getting me hype to get the camera back out in 2024. Seeing the amazing memories that were captured by the photographers at my wedding last summer has reignited my interest in/love for the art form. Excited to get back out there
I am still far too shy/uncomfortable when out in the wild with my camera. Feeling more confident and just doing photography is the goal for the year
Feel very Wes Anderson-esque in this one from the wedding:
HELL yeah brother!
If you have any questions or need any info/tips - you’re in the right spot.
Only way to get better is to just go out and shoot
Thanks man!
I know I read it above, but lay it out like I’m 5:
-Landscape stuff start in aperture priority?
-Action/motion start in shutter priority?
And for each of those…
-Aperture is F stop? And what do high and low F stops mean again?
-Shutter speed: whats the range?
Thanks for all of the feedback. I’m just planning to get some pics of the course, throughout each round. maybe if things are going well or slow, I can setup for some selfies.
For ease of EVERYTHING, use shutter priority.
Basically…
The higher the shutter speed:
- The more you can freeze motion
- The less light there is (so raise your ISO)
The lower the shutter speed:
- The more aperture you can open up
- The more light there is (lower your ISO)
Awesome. Thanks man!
And what are examples of “lower” and “higher”?
Ooh, oooh. I’m on vacation, but try this trick:
Find or make running water (your sink is fine!). Take a photo at like 1/200-ish and then shoot it again at 1/20. It’s WILD.
