Imagine realizing your phone fell out of your bag on 12 tee when you were at the very bottom of 13. (S/O to @todayletsgolf for grabbing it.) Once I found it on FindmyiPhone there was no way in hell I was walking back to get it. haha
THIS!
And then each of the remaining holes plays into a 60+ ft (?) valley that you get to walk down and up again, each time questioning your sanity
What a legendary experience. I think we’ve found the “uphill both ways” golf course.
I am absolutely exhausted just reading this thread and cannot imagine what those Whoop scores looked like. Beyond the barking dogs and wobbly legs, this sounded like an absolute blast and I can’t wait to hear stories!
Cheers to @bignanski and @kcurry11 for putting together something truly special.
I’m going to be “that asshole guy”
Good wake up call for us all, walk and exercise more. You’ll be glad you did.
Golf even when it’s a brutal walk is always better walking, and no better feeling than battling the course physically and mentally.
As the douche who walked it last year when carts where available I’m so glad I didn’t even get to consider it this year.
The real bummer was how different the course plays when wet, not the walk
(Walking when no one else does allows you to find a ton of barely used prov1)
It’s definitely not always better. I walk most of my rounds. I exercise plenty, I just prefer to do it separately from golf. Especially when it’s somewhere that has steep slopes, no shade, and very few benches. It’s fine if you want to make golf an endurance activity, I think it’s silly to say that everyone should do that.
Hard disagree but I respect the hell out of you
^ Actual picture of me on #11, with 6x tilt after two net eagles and a birdie. Proceeded to top my drive, lose the second shot in the high grass, then pump my drop OB for a fat -24

It was the highest I’ve ever seen anyone fly. I’m glad I was there to see it.
SICK SICK SICK
Finally home from work after the Landmand trek and subsequent 8.5 hour drive (including Kwik Trip stops) back to Wisconsin. As I sit here wearing my new “Up Top” Landmand hoodie I can confidently say that despite the wind, heat, walking (I used to do marathons and up to 50 mile trail races and my legs are still tired) it was so worth it. Landmand is an experience unlike any I’ve ever had, and while maybe not my favorite course it is a fantastic course I would recommend to anyone. It was great to share it with so many of you from all corners of the country, I can’t wait to see the group photo we took with all the different Roost flags.
@bignanski @kcurry11 you guys crushed it and have earned a well deserved pat on the back and sleep (in whichever order you prefer).
Anyone who sees / reads this who didn’t get to play in Cornstalk 1.0, I’d highly recommend considering adding this one to your event schedule. For most of us it’s quite a hike, but your investment of travel time is well worth it as this event was that good.
It was awesome seeing old friends and meeting new ones, see y’all down the road or even next month at the Ope.
Until next time if you need me I’ll either be at Marto’s sipping on a tasty beer with some pizza, at Old Dane playing some of the most laid back / enjoyable golf of my life, or “Up Top” on the Adirondack chairs watching the golfers come in and listening to the roosters cackle with a Boulevard Bomb Pop seltzer in my hand.
We had it as approximately a 7.5 mile walk on Apple Watch and Garmin GPS watch. For reference, Bandon Dunes is about 5 miles.
Just an absolutely brutal physical test. And I walk the vast majority of my golf. By far the hardest walk I have ever done in golf. And I watched a guy puke and heat stroke out at Chambers at the top of 7 – this walk was more than that.
Don’t feel too bad about missing the green. It seemed like it was a “middle” pin and per the youtube that may be pretty difficult to do. I watched a 15 ft putt scare the cup and then miss by approximately 60 ft. I hit the best hybrid I hit all 2 days bounced well short and rolled all the way back. I had a 100 ft putt that I hit as hard as I could and was 8ft short and then drained it. Best 2 putt for me at Landmand by far.
I’m brave enough to say it: that pin on 14 yesterday was bullshit and ruined the hole
I was hoping to hear of some good ejection stories in here I couldn’t make enough birds to get anything too bad, but hooping one on 2 followed by a lost approach somewhere left of 3 green was pretty sick.
Absolutely all time weekend, thanks again @bignanski @kcurry11!
You’re not even the first person to say it
I’ll tell my low point here, so I can get it off my chest. D2, 15. Aimed right at the bunker in the fairway, cause there is no way I’m going to hit it straight at the 5 yard strip I’m aiming at.
Nope, dead center. So I had the opportunity to hit the TC wood shot from the Landmand Film Room. Best contact of the day with the 5 wood, but I cut it a bit too much and ended up in the bunker at the bottom of the hill, in legitimately the worst fried egg I’ve ever seen in my life. Tried to chop it out sideways, almost got it out, but hit the rough above the bunker and came back down. Was in a double footprint, and had to get super steep on it to even make contact. Couldn’t make contact and flubbed it into the weeds right in front, lost ball.
Sent the wedge straight into the sand and it was sticking out just like a flag pole while I screamed some expletives, and just picked up from there. It was the culmination of a lot of bad golf of the weekend, combined with my knee which locked up on hole 11.
All that, and it was still the best 2 days of golf I’ve had in my life, I wouldn’t change a fucking thing.
After watching @FairwayHank send a 9 iron just barely over the green on 12 I decided to go with PW. That was a bad idea.
My lowest point was trying to get out of the milk carton bunker on 18 on day 1. I got out of the sand in 1 shot, but that grass up top is thicccc. 2 shots to get out of there, pretty good 3 putt. A solid 8.
