Brother, you fucking earned it.
I hit a very artisanal shot into 10 off that side hill and then completely lost the ability to hit driver the rest of the inward 9.
Walking with a half set was a tremendous idea after pushing with the full bag yesterday. Might have converted me to always taking a half set when I’m walking too, never really missed any of the clubs I took out.
10/10 would play again, 1/10 would not want to walk 2 days again
Fatigue aside, did today’s walk seem miles easier than yesterday to anyone else?
I’m trying to decide if that was the wind, or just knowing what you’re in for…
I had this conversation with a few different people and I think it was both. But it definitely did seem easier, at least for those of us who went off in the morning.
We had this same conversation today. Yesterday the first 9 holes felt like gut punch after gut punch walking into the wind. Today, much better. I felt better after 9 holes today than yesterday. I think by the end of the round we were all exhausted from two days walking. The fatigue started setting in. but would agree the walk was easier today.
I thought today was way more brutal personally. Teed off just after noon so last 5-6 holes it was about 90 degrees with absolutely zero wind. Doesn’t help that I have a body that doesn’t handle heat well.
All I know is yesterday I was all in on going to walk 9 more at Old Dane while today the only thing I wanted to do was lay on the tile in the clubhouse bathroom for an hour and a half.
Special shoutout to the girl in the clubhouse for the post round ibuprofen.
I loved the walk, hoping they make it more push cart friendly in the future. Several really annoying walks through tall grass and uneven ground, most notably in spots with stairs.
Finally made it home, don’t recommend 8 hour drives after walking Landmand back to back days including earlier in the morning
I thought the walk was nice… once… round two yesterday in the very last group completely zapped me in the PM sun. Any good golf vibes I had going on the front completely vanished around 13s tee box as a I watched my ball sail far far away never to be found again.
Anyway, thanks to all for a great weekend. Lots of fun meeting some of you and 10/10 overall despite the long walks. Carts take it 13/10 next year.
I don’t know what this means but I’m sitting in the airport drenched in sweat. Great event. Will return.
It’s no wind - always easier to walk in hotter temps than in 30+mph winds. Because you’re walking into the wind, cross winds etc and don’t realize the extra effort it’s taking until you finally sit down/finish
To my playing partners yesterday @Finnesotan_47, @Perry4234, and Luke: I would like to issue a formal apology. I just found our scorecard in my bag. I’m sorry. I failed you.
I regret nothing else. No further statements at this time. Please respect my privacy.
Vindication, apology accepted!
I didn’t think I lost it, but I’m my state of exhaustion I wasn’t certain. You were probably too distracted by the chili dog at the halfway house to remember to hand it off
Just finished playing Lacoma in Dubuque on the way home. Can’t imagine a better round of golf for $23. Of course it was walking only because of the rain. Normal golf did seem a little easier after the last couple days though.
They can’t keep getting away with it
I would wager that the “Time of Death” for just about everyone was the walk from 13 green to 14. Most of the walks between greens and tees were very reasonable, but that one is uphill and winding and then you end up in the hottest, muggiest, most stagnant spot on the course. And you’ve been out there for 4 hours. And have to hit a long iron or wood to some TOUGH pins. Just a perfect recipe for tapping out mentally on the round!
I’m still pissed at that green on Monday. I hit a 5 iron about a good as I possibly could, but instead of fading a yard or two like it did Sunday, if drew a yard or two. Kicked off the very top of the left front hill (like a yard longer and it’s on the green) and into the bunker.
I wanted to cry when I got to 14 and the water was gone, knowing the walks on 14, 15, 16, and 17 were coming. Thankfully the grounds crew came out with more jugs before we even got to the 14 green. Sounds like the last few tee times Sunday weren’t so lucky
