While I know golf is the reason for the event. The purpose is the state fair. Last year we had quite a few people ala @djpie @MerchCzar and @Randy skipping the fair. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Year 1 was a blast people watching, food trying, craft beer drinking, bud tent raining, and big bull inspecting. (Even with the old dustbowl beer tent). If youre getting your planning put together Id highly suggest/request you stay for it! New foods list should be released in a week and Ill get it up here to see what the new gotta try items are.

Was planning on booking a hotel for Saturday night, enjoying the Fair, then driving back Sunday

FWIW, I have been to the Minnesota and Wisconsin state fairs, so I’m eager to see how Iowa compares.

The slogan is “Nothing Compares”. In my heart this is true. In my head its probably true but most likely similar to WI and MN as were all cousins.

Its waaaay better than Texas though, their state fair blows.

Checking the PayPal, we are missing a lot of payments. I have 10 payments

This is incorrect. But it competes with Texas. It’s a STRONG state fair. But ain’t nuthin’ like the Texas State Fair.

The fact that IA and MN have been competing for largest state fair with Texas for years show that pound for pound we win. Some years, MN had beat TX straight up.

To pull an argment style from TC. The 1 time I did the Texas state fair it was a disgrace. Largest just meant more walking and too crowded. Everything was incredibly overpriced. Food was meh and their ticking system for it meant you had to stand in 2 long lines. Took me over an hour to get 1 item. Big Tex was fine but 0% made of butter. Maybe I just had a hot bad (semi-hungover) day, but Im not going back anytime soon (because both siblings moved away from Dallas).

I’ve been to about four (?) UT-OU games and we’d peruse the fair before and after. This is pre-teen me, and the whole experience each time was transcendent.

I can’t speak to it current iteration.

But it was glorious.

I am on the “yet to sign up but will be all in” list.

Also if anyone is coming into town Thursday, we’d love to run the early round back that afternoon at State Fair National aka Grandview.

I’m off completely on Thursday, got a 5 hour drive from Chitown, so I could be talked into an afternoon round that day.
