Practice round is in the books. It is going to be a fun fun time for those who are not afraid to go big.

A quick note for those coming in from out of town @country35 did mention the sheriff likes to sit on the coming in so do not speed.

I repeat flaps down on the way in Smokey’s in the house.

Hey man sorry! Been a bit busier than I hoped these last two days. I am game for whatever. I was planning on showing up early and figuring it out from there!

Today is the day, gentlemen. Ashley Plantation and @country35 await you with open arms and very rolling fairways.

I’ll be there early. Come see me when you get in, I will have your card. We may want / need to do a little reshuffling of foursomes and tee order just to properly consolidate on the tee sheet.

LGL!

Had a great round today with these gents! Got put into their group last minute and it was fun times from the get go! Even though team VA didn’t come out on top together we helped keep it close. Shout out to @country35 for putting it all together. @SammyShaf @Wholefoods @needforspieth

Slow on the up take… as I just figured out the 3BR = 3 bedroom reference.
On a side note my wife and I stoped in Lexington, VA for dinner. We had a couple of drinks and she made a reservation for a hotel in Lexington,…… KY!!!
Now we are at a bar and she wants another drink. Thankfully the hotel in KY, refunded our online booking and I found a hotel for us in Virginia!??

Big thanks to everyone who made this the best weekend of the summer. Thanks @country35 for showing me the lay of the land Friday; I was able to take some of that course knowledge and hit a few awesome shots today. Huge shout out to @tcjones1985 for hosting at RCC; the course was a treat! The memory of that holed out wedge is forever ingrained in my mind!

I had been looking forward to this for a long time and it was better than I could have imagined. I cannot wait to do it again next year!

Shits about to get wordy. TL;DR - Fun golf, thanks host, congrats winners.

First of all, major props to @Country35. Taking on setting up a Refuge event is no small undertaking. I am already looking forward to next year.

I also really appreciate the preview round Friday. Ashley Plantation is a very different course the second time around. Definitely a tough tour for those playing it for the first time yesterday (as evidenced by the team averages being well below quota). I also maintain that the original builder of the course made his fortune manufacturing white OB stakes. There is no other explanation for the sheer number of FU boundaries on that course. Ts & Ps to the many, many lost balls yesterday.

Congratulations to North Carolina, the Inaugural 3BR Champs. It isn’t easy to come into hostile territory and take the win. You should be proud. Now, go home and let us lick our wounds in peace.

Double congrats to @Swing_hard_and_hope, who was not only a member of the winning team, but was also the Stableford Medalist at +3 to quota and by team selection, the NIT qualifier. He proved to the lot of us that the secret to success was walking (sometimes running) a virtually unwalkable course. You could tell the fatigue was really setting in late, when his drive on the penultimate par 5 only managed 344 (measured). Later in the round, after an iron long on a par 3, he lamented “I don’t know how that club goes that far.” Look in a mirror, bro, look in a mirror.

Thanks as well to @tcjones1985 for hosting some internet hooligans out at Roanoke Country Club. A great Tilly in the Star City. Tons of fun. Great track, great host. It was a pleasure to meet you.

Shout out to my playing partners for the weekend, the aforementioned Country35, tcjones1985 and SHAH, as well as @SammyShaf (I don’t know where its going, but it will be far), @tramsey07 (sorry I crumbled under the pressure of the match tying putt, you deserve better), @very.chipper (I’m still disappointed you didn’t try to hit driver over the 50’ tall hill), and @wholefoods (whenever anyone asks me what kind of crazy shenanigans we get up to a Refuge events, my answer will forever be “Once, this guy bought a live edge coffee table at a farmer’s market in Roanoke!”).

To everyone else who I met for the first time, or just saw again for the umpteenth time, thanks for coming out, thanks for the hang, and I’ll see you next year.

And for team Virginia, the time to start training is now.

We aren’t quite done yet, I have a net birdie/net eagle pledge to pay (and for @ColoniusFunk to match). If you can take a pic of my card and send it to me, I will count them up and Venmo you the money.

I don’t know why I didn’t do it after the round, it’s not like I had anything else going on. /s

He got caught up at work (which I will forgive because it is Belmont). He was kind enough to give us a heads up, I just didn’t check my DMs prior to the round.

What a great time, a pleasure to get to meet you guys at my first nest event. Hats off to @country35 for setting it all up, I’m looking forward to next years event.

Thanks to @tcjones1985 for hosting us out at RCC. The place is so pure and so fun. I’ll never forget @SammyShaf impossible pitch from the grill on the last.

@Double_Bogey_Dave @Smidler @ClarkGriswold great time grabbing some beers on Friday. Shows how the refuge can bring different people (you guys are old af) with the same passion for golf together.

Shout out to @needforspieth, dude really is the master of the power fade.

Even though North Carolina won, we all know who the true winner of this weekend is

God damn it’s beautiful.

Happy to host you guys up in the DC Metro and play some golf at University of Maryland. (Someone call my bluff and let’s plan something in august)

I am 100% certain everyone else in that place assumed that was just a couple of dad’s taking their sons out for a beer before dropping them off at their new college apartment. Okay, maybe grad school in your case.

@Wholefoods most definetly golfed his ball. I owe a huge debt of gratitude for him calling me out for a patented Gronk spike hat toss; without that there is no way I would have bombed it past you 4 feet on that last hole of the day. @needforspieth cannot believe how much fun we had, sure was nice seeing you execute the perfect balance of solid tunes and tasy brews in between carving the sky up with the most powerful fade!
