How soon we forget the mini golf episode in TS: Carolinas!

Best reason to be excited for future seasons

Inspired by the boys going to see Pia and Lynn, I played nine holes last night using the same routine for every single shot and putt. Why have I never ever done this before? Who could say. Probably played the most level headed round of 9 holes in my life. What is this black magic? I might just have to see what this Vision54 is all about.

don’t know who’s forgetting that. probably a top 5 TS episode i’ve rewatched for reasons I cannot explain.

Always appreciate the inside baseball (pun 1000% intended) look at how these come together! The best part is always how different not only each season is but each episode within the trips. The last one had the least golf but was the best imo. Great stuff.

Also, I’ve made the executive decision that NLU videos have to be viewed on the big screen so now my wife asks a lot of questions when I watch, and is starting to remember some of the usual suspects. Tuff scene tho when she asked “who is the short king on the left” and I had to explain that Randy makes everyone look short. And then again during the credits “wait where the hell is Randy?!” … “Check it out, his name is actually Phil.” I think she’s either more confused than ever or just about to be all in.

The closing credits got me. There’s something so Utopia-adjacent about Little League.

Let’s see your yours. The Ravens stuuuuuuuuuunk. I always picked number 3 because of Babe Ruth.

I still think there’s a C-Suite v. Diner Boys Strapped Special in you all.

Watching ep3 and listening to the talk about Randy watching the Reds 100+ times a year. I get it.

I always say it this way. The Braves are the soundtrack for my summer. From when I was a kid, from when I worked at Turner Broadcasting in the early 90’s, all through today. When I had a boat and the game was on, we listened to the Braves on the water instead of music.
It’s not that the focus is always on them, but it’s always there and always in the background-- and occasionally in the foreground all summer.

@Tron thank you for not letting proximity mine-gate go unnoticed. Very concerning, especially because he seemed so proud of it.

Baseball is a perfect multitasking entertainment product. Have it on in the background while doing chores around the house. Have it on during a road trip. Go to a game and have a conversation about nothing to do with baseball while passively watching (I’m a nerd so last time I did this we talked about black holes :man_shrugging:).

The enjoyment of consuming baseball isn’t the brief moments of action - it’s the buildup and suspense of those moments; the anticipation of the outcome whether your favorite hitter or pitcher will be the hero or the goat, and the joy or sorrow that follows.

As a 1990 A’s fan - Fuck Rob Dibble

Guarantee Randy was an Oddjob user. My brother ran the same playbook. Boris for life!

The song is No Surprises by Radiohead but I’m not sure who did this version.

It’s one thing to watch a Tourist Sauce or a Strapped visit a course you have played. It’s cool, brings back memories, gives you warm fuzzy feelings.

This episode was something completely different. Castles and Coasters is a big part of my life. I’ve lived in Phoenix 20 years. My first apartment wasn’t more than 2 miles from there. My wife and I used to go on dates there. My kids don’t play golf, but they love mini golf (well, my son really does anyway). We go to C&C a lot. I recognize those holes. I know them well. I recognize the fucked up carpet on #16. The impossibility of #7 (around the building, through the wagon wheel and past the rocks). All the multi-level holes. I banged my head on the wall that none of those 4 guys recognized a classic swinging post hole. Seriously? They claim to like mini golf and they don’t know that? And the terror of the most cruel volcano hole ever built at #17.

But wow. All the feels seeing them at a place I’ve spent so much time and where I have so many fun memories.

The baseball stuff is such a cool bonus, as well, obviously and I appreciate the hell out of it. Aas I remind my kids more often than they like, I’m only here in Arizona and thus they only exist because of Spring Training.

The haters can get bent. This wasn’t Strapped: Arizona, or Strapped: Phoenix. It was Strapped: Spring Training. And it lived up to that billing.

This season struck me particularly well on a couple different notes. I’m a former Scottsdale and Tempe resident and have spent countless spring afternoons at the ballpark taking in a game on cheap tickets. I’ve played Dobson, Wigwam and all the courses at Castles and Coasters.

The three episodes captured the vibe of Arizona spring training just perfectly. To play three rounds of golf in March in Phoenix and be anywhere near budget is impossible, which is the point. Going to Arizona in March is never only about the golf and shouldn’t be. It’s about everything else. The weather, the baseball, cold beers, hanging in the pool, Castles and Coasters (which is an absolute institution in Phoenix and the site of my 8th grade graduation class trip.)

This season made me feel all the feels for a place I no longer live, but enjoyed the hell out of while I was there.

Your last point was very well stated. Thank you for that.
