Strapped: South Carolina - Long Live the Kid and NCIS

As a MB resident I would love to know what hotel it was lol

Maybe a floating budget from season to season that is based on the cost of the golf? The $57 a person for golf that first day killed them being over 20% of the budget. So maybe the budget adjusts from season to season so that the golf accounts for about XX%. Whatever that % is I don’t know, someone smarter than me can figure that out.

I think a variable budget makes a lot of sense and keeps the spirit of the show and the mega bonus intact. At the end of the day, Strapped feels like it’s more about the people and places than the budget, give me more of that good stuff.

Yup.

The budget needs to exist to provide conflict and drama.

But the soul of the show is the people, the places that other travel golf shows would never go to and the experiences along the way.

A modest fixed increase or variable budget would preserve all of that.

I think the biggest problem with the recent golf boom is that alot of mediocre/crappy public spots took the opportunity to jack up their prices. My vote would be to adjust the budget down to not include lodging, seems like the majority of the lodging situation doesn’t really add much to the overal value. This has always been to highlight value golf courses in areas you wouldn’t normally think of visiting.

Also a good solution. $500 (or even less) for 3 rounds of golf (x2) and 6-8 (x2) meals would still be “cheap.”

Yes but it also gave us Big Meech.

This feels right to keep the overall spirit of the series. Lots of different definitions of affordable golf in different parts of the country. I think keeping it within a reasonable budget for that destination gives people a better sense of what that place is about vs “we gotta find the cheapest goat track that has zero character” to stay under the budget that is ultimately a “bit.”

Sleeping in the car would be good content but I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

For sure.

I think an interesting way to mitigate the budget issues going forward is changing what impacts the budget, or making a separate budget for specific things. 250 total for golf, 250 for lodging, 200 for food. Or 500$ for only golf and food. I totally see the dilemma and trust the best choice will be made.

I really don’t want to see strapped die. I need to see @MerchCzar realize his dream of a round with Carter Beauford in strapped: Virginia

Y’all are acting like Sean Foley and finna ruin Tiger’s swing and send him into a spiral of injuries here with all this unsolicited advice.

For some reason, I’m not sold on the variable budget. I like the simplicity of the $500 budget. If anything, just increase the budget to $600 and make it an even $200 per day. I know coastal South Carolina is pretty expensive and probably wasn’t the best place to choose for a $500 budget, but they made it work in Southern California, so maybe $500’s still doable in some non-coastal areas. Or just get Max Homa on another quota round to bump up the budget.

all things considered, from a content perspective that’s actually the best possible outcome

I actually quite enjoyed it. 10/10 would do it again…

As someone who has walked out of a hotel room because my dad was snoring so loudly, I would’ve killed for that setup.

I feel like unsolicited advice and ruining swings is pretty core to the Refuge experience.

Beating a dead horse at this point, but this is the answer. South Carolina, even in “off season” was too close to the Sun. Time for some Strapped: Arkansas or Oklahoma. Not a dig, enthusiastically awaiting to see value options in places like this.

Technically you could argue we’re pseudo-credited producers
