We can’t. I mean…they call us refugees
an honest reply to @soly and @McSchvantz - old old old board guy here…and back in the day, the mod would move the sidetracking reply (and I assume all automatic responses to the reply) to a new thread, and VOILA, the topic in question (Strapped) remained on task, and people who were looking to respond would only find it in another thread…
i nominate @3wiggle
@ScottW trying to win over our bosses and force us to do more work. Not today, Satan!
I see all sides of this issue. For some it gets to be a little much around here sometimes. But that is what makes this place great for most of us.
But you can’t really have it both ways unless Soly et al are willing to allow some community policing in the form of user mods like you see a lot of other places. You either let us police ourselves naturally and take the good with the bad or have a few gestapo with some power to move posts etc.
all seeing all knowing god @HaveOuimet i guess
i see my side. and everyone else is wrong. thats how it works here.
I can see it happening, folks. Another rabbit hole!
Sorry man, but that will never work. Look at any message board anywhere, it doesn’t work like that on the internets.
Just embrace the crazy.
im here pretty much just for the noise. i was just telling my wife last night how interesting it was that we were talking about renting vs buying and student loans etc. granted she looked at me like a wierdo but whatever.
If nominated I will not run. If elected I will not serve. Let my omnipresent threat of shaming be your guiding light.
Also, @anon26814599 this comment is patently ridiculous.
I’ve specifically sat on creative posts because I know that the suffocating presence of @aannddyy00 yourself @GRWhitehead and other top posters debating student loan debt or mortgages will inevitable push an original topic off the main page. This isn’t meant as a slight. Please don’t flame me for it.
I know remixes of “Still Fly” to describe Kiradech Aphibarnrat’s life aren’t everyone’s cup of tea beacause GAME SHOWS, but wouldn’t you rather sick the collective brain of the refuge on a Walker Cup preview than a never ending circle you know what about personal finance?
it seems that we do both just fine
Listen, trains sometimes get derailed. It happens. Everything is fine.

I feel like this sums up most threads. They get bogged down, but no one really gets hurt, things start to flow again eventually.
Respectfully disagree. The people posting hundreds upon hundreds of inane comments every day do not make the Refuge great.
Cop
“I’m blaming you for me not deciding to write interesting things.”
sure, i’m not personally insulted, but this is a little ridiculous too. just say what you have to say, plenty of people here will appreciate it. good posts bubble to the top (of attention). you can see that with likes.
I don’t even understand the goal of “less discussion”. If we need a walker cup thread, somebody make one. You can always scroll past something you don’t care about. Free speech isn’t free if it’s only the speech you want to hear!
You’re slowing turning on the C-Suite, and I love it.
