I can’t believe that Neil took a drop from under that spruce… convinced he could have got the club face on that ball… if he makes contact… he makes bogey at worst… sigh…FATE FAVORS THE BOLD!
Just wait, my friend…
However neither of them are scratch golfers, so the only argument would be if their indexes converted into a sub-par course handicap. I think at their price point for rounds they have to resort to a course that has a sub 72 par/shorter length golf course.
Had the same thought. I don’t envy the editing gymnastics @djpie will have to perform if we ever see a dual Mega Bonus effort from the Strapped Boys.
Neil is raising money by riding his unicycle across the US in order to build something somewhere in a poorer part of the world he once visited with his youth group. Randy is a “contractor” and saw a short feature on Neil’s journey during the 5 o’clock local news broadcast and offered up his converted garage bedroom for Neil to stay the night in. They struck up an unlikely friendship and now Randy plans to accompany Neil to that poorer part of the world to assist in the building of the something because “he has the necessary skills.”
In the first rendition of The Chase for the Mega Bonus, I feel like it was mainly self inflicted (the pressure of the East Des Moines Women got to him), second rendition in Baltimore I felt was Soly’s doing, as he basically shamed the boys into thinking that Forest Park wasn’t worthy, and then last night was all Neil. Totally agree here that Soly just asked the questions, then Neil proceeded to fold like a lawn chair.
That being said, I would love for the first mega bonus to be cashed on a tough, long golf course so the boys can absolutely shove it down the C-Suite’s throat.
@Soly knows what he’s doing.
insert a random gaslighting meme here.
Should they happily take the cash from the C Suite and immediately blow it all in the most ridiculously irresponsible way possible? Absolutely.
Is an under-par round legit for a 4 handicap who hits the ball 300 yards on a course that has back to back to back 280 yard par 4s? Absolutely not.
Seemed like Neil’s confidence wasn’t 100% coming down the stretch, his first 40-50ish yard approach shot the he was “comfortable with” after hitting 3 iron off the tee seemed extremely timid and didn’t finish to an acceptable distance. Then the next 3 iron he hit he admitted he almost shanked it. Then played driver aiming at the tree with a cut, and hit it dead straight into the tree.
Sometimes driver down the middle is the safe and smart play.
Oh my god, I feel so happy for you! Stick that content into your veins, son!!!
C-Suite should cover the cost of the plaque as they broke up Neil’s round
I think @Randy has some responsibility here.
The Big Guy needs to be a thermostat. When he sees his guy getting hot (aka- general doubt creep in) via that conversation, cool him off and give him confidence; when he seems him going cold, light a fire under @MerchCzar’s ass. Good leadership surveys the surrounding environment, recognizes the appropriate action, and then follows through to get Neil back on track.
On the course itself: I grew up playing that track. As a kid with a PPD pass, it cost $0.25 to play. I lived close enough to walk there. I was not good but it was a GREAT course for a kid. Watching the episode brought back so many memories, particularly my first birdie ever on that long straight par 5 (#2) referenced in the ep. I wish my daughters had this type of course to play as they grow up!
Pumped for the next two!
Really? Because Neil has never done it. And clearly it’s not easy to do. It’s legit. Par is par. Breaking par is simply shooting below it. It’s legit. And it’s hard - especially when it’s going to be the first time Neil or Randy will have ever played the course in question.
I don’t care what the course rating is. You still can’t just show up and scum it around and break par no problem. You still have to execute good golf shots very consistently and make some key putts
Whats the name of that song? I have been trying to find out for a while now
Icarito falling is just like those damn Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercials. Gets me every time.
Things you would hate (secretly love) to see:
Flex the Whoop data, show us Icarito’s heart rate, breathing etc before and after the C-suite detonation🙈
Oh I think we’d definitely see some HR spikes!
Keep swinging Merrill Neil
Absolutely. I love how casual everybody here is about breaking par, like it’s something they do everyday. I’ve never shot below 80, and lots of golfers are worse than that. People here are acting like they are breaking par everyday on PGA tour courses, let’s keep it relevant here guise. Strapped is about the common man’s golf courses and golf trips. Any average common recreational golfer is going to be thrilled about breaking par, no matter the course.
