Strapped Baltimore (Season 5) - @KVV rants about different shows

Was just thinking the same thing. I could book a trip right now.

Shoutout to the strapped boys @MerchCzar and @Randy for hitting up the best BBQ in Baltimore, however a little sad I was not the first Andy Nelson featured in a NLU video.

But seriously that opening shot of the camera turning to @MerchCzar was straight from a found footage horror movie. #notthebestwaytowakeup

Randy sleeping through departure time, shades of the Big Guy missing the wake up call at the Old Course in Tourist Sauce season 2

Is anyone else really impressed with the strides Randy’s swing has taken since Scotland? It was a herky-jerky mess and now it’s fairly smooth and consistent. And we know what he did to @anon26814599 at the Duel. It seems like the 4 who live in Jacksonville have all improved their handicaps by 2 or 3 since Australia. Not too surprising given how much they play these day. Not sure where Icarito’s game is relatively, but I’d expect big improvements from him if he ever made the move to the Killhouse. Just extra amount of golf combined w/ his athleticism and relative lack of experience.

Okay, I’m diving into the Wire for the first time because of this thread… wish me luck.

It will be interesting to see the impact on content as the guys get better. Part of the charm is relating to Neil’s big right miss or Randy suffering with the shanks in Scotland.

Eh, I don’t think it matters how good you are, golf is primarily a game played against your own expectations. When I was in my early teens I was ecstatic if I broke 90. Now, if I shoot 88 I am very disappointed. Plus, I’d love to see the psychological drama of TC getting regularly beat by his little brother (as a little brother w/ an older bro who took the game more seriously when we were young I would love to see this) and Soly having his NLU big dog status challenged.

Where did you find it?

It’s on Prime!

OH SHIT, all five* (sounds like you only really should watch 1-4 though)?

Edit: I should have and just looked – yes, all five seasons on Amazon Prime

5 is fine, it’s just not as good as the other 4. Still several wonderful moments and great characters, but the story gets a little weird to say the least…

Love the editing @djpie - lining up the break in the music with Neil’s abruptly stopped fist pump was subtle but didn’t go unnoticed.

Just want to say well done guys. I don’t agree with @KVV Wire season rankings but I loved having him on these. Great addition and did a great job explaining the city vibe.

Kudos @djpie @MerchCzar @Randy

A+

@djpie the editing and overall presentation is absolutely fantastic, incredible quality for what I have to assume is a shoestring budget.

What a great episode! I guess they had to catch a flight necessitating the zero dark 30 wake up call? @MerchCzar sounded rough. Made me laugh. He’s like 30.
It doesn’t get better.

Totally agree with above poster that @Randy has made huge strides. Especially the putting. So happy for him. It must be hard to have your swing filmed while it is not behaving and you have aspiring us amateur candidates as the rest of your core friends.

Looks like @MerchCzar and @Randy have figured out how to step on throats when necessary however. Good on them.

Enjoyed @kvv immensely. Thanks for sharing insights about Baltimore. It’s nice to have a face to the name for future podcasts. Thanks for being brave enough to join the lads.

Takes a seasoned vet to handle a night of steamed crabs and Natty Bo followed by a god awful morning call sheet.

All of us aspire, few of us are able.

Just finished strapped Baltimore! Great as usual!

The amount and/or size of items in @KVV’s front pockets has me totally triggered and physically uncomfortable. I have no idea how he’s able to swing a golf club with 60lb boulders in his pockets.

Joking aside, great f’n job to all the guis. Strapped has further cemented itself as my favorite NLU content. And it’s not even close.

…ok. Maybe The Nest podcasts are close but @djpie’s editing game and storytelling is rising faster than Icarito on the 11th hole with the Mega Bonus in play.

I did think it was rather amusing when @KVV said it infuriates him when people say they won’t go in the city (Baltimore) and that their fear is based on “bullshit”, and then a few sentences later admits that Baltimore is the most violent city in America

Yeah, there might be a tourist area or two that is probably fine, but how I am going to convince my wife to take our kids to the most violent city in America? There are plenty of other options on the Eastern Seaboard where we can get great seafood in a more charming and relaxing environment. I agree that excessive pessimism is a futile strategy but this kind of rose-colored whitewashing that is prevalent in certain corners only inhibits the radical change that is required to turn around a broken city. But, when gentrification is viewed as a horrible injustice by these same people, I fear that nothing will ever change.

I watched The Wire more or less when it first came out so I’ve forgotten bits.

I was legitimately taken aback seeing David Costabile in one of the stills.

I’ve never watched “Billions” or “Suits”, so I can’t comment on his roles there. But dude played the managing editor of the Baltimore Sun in season 5 of “The Wire”, Doug in “FotC”, and Gael Boetticher in “Breaking Bad”.

That’s one hell of a prestige TV character actor career.
