“Your Honor I’d like to submit Exhibit A”
No intent. Total gentleman.
Well I don’t know the legality of using music in niche web series, but obviously the OG recording would fall under copyright and require consent from the artist. Covers seem like a weird grey area. Especially when the “style” is fairly different, and that song has been covered quite a few different ways from the original.
The band who wrote what became the Peaky Blinders theme did the exact same thing. It’s practically it’s own genre - homages to Way Down In The Hole.
Plus, he recorded it solo, so technically it doesn’t count.
Not a gray area at all. The copyright is in the written music and lyrics. A cover must be licensed.
Shout out to the Barstool attribution argument
Plz credit
@djpie awesome content as always brother some of these cats just cant help but be critical (same dudes would probably complain about the Mona Lisa having a smudge on one of its corners)
definitely nice seeing the love with the addition of @KVV however personally I think the nlu community would totally vibe on some @djpie airtime during the rounds of the strapped saga.
Speaking of cheap crabs who tapped that cute musician last season?
St. Rappeo
“Is there a cheap place to get crabs?”
NSFW
@djpie I will second this. Something along the lines of a halftime report, in the style of your collegiate news anchor days.
Diddy calls this “sampling”
Watched last night. Staying in an AirBNB/Art Gallery in Mt Vernon hosted by a guy who paints Bmore landmarks with monsters is sooo Baltimore.
There was something about the episode that stood out, it may have been the lighting, or the story about the Wire and Rich v Working Class (there is a scene at the end of Season 2 where Vondas Chuck’s his cell into the water at Ft Howard which isn’t too far from RP).
Really enjoyed the episode. Also forgot how much fun Rocky Point is to play.
Bravo again to the Strapped crew. This one got deep for me, as I think the golf was secondary to highlighting the general societal issues of (Insert Once Thriving City here) Baltimore. The drive to the course in particular captured what the essence of Baltimore golf is to me.
That’s modern day East Baltimore, folks. Drive to any city course, you’ll see some shit, some monsters. Something about driving through these ‘neglected to destitution’ neighborhoods to go play a round of golf always felt weird to me. It’s a unique juxtaposition of poverty and privilege. It always put me in an immediate state of self-awareness, and genuinely sets a tone for the round I’m about to play. Perspective, appreciation. I get that sense from a lot of folks I meet in the Bmore muni circuit.
Rocky Point has long been my favorite Bmore county course, have logged too many rounds to count there. Shoutout @KVV for getting pin high in two on 15, that requires 2 very well struck balls. Seen that lie on 16 way too many times, great bird from there.
Shoutout Wells Discount Liquors, I used to live off Walker Ave my senior year and was a very frequent customer.
Pumped for round 3.
Going to Fiesta Mexicana when Pastores is is right next door is an error, Conrad crabs was clutch.
I may have to drive down to Rocky Point in 2020. Place looks really fun.
Loving the vibe of Strapped Baltimore in general. The courses remind me a lot of the munis we play here in Philadelphia (minus the bay views). Listening to cicadas chirp as Icarito lines up a putt makes it really tough to take the impending winter here in Philly.
The Drew Holcomb song for the crab dinner and ending was perfect.
