Amazing work boys! Netflix better watch out with this level of content coming out. Also unbelieveable that you managed to catch, what 5 Stanford golf records and a course record being broken.
This video is the Stanford girls golf team of content!
This was so damn good. Rachel Heck might be one of the most impressive, charismatic athletes I’ve ever seen and Rose Zhang might be right up there too. Sheesh. Rachel’s pure joy at Rose making an albatross was awesome. Just detonating college golf records right now.
Fantastic job to all involved. I couldn’t stop giggling the entire time due to how good the production was and, even more so, how delightful Rachel, Rose, Coach Walker, and everyone on the team is. I live in Phoenix so I’m lucky enough to be able to go out to Grayhawk this weekend to watch them in person. I’ll be honest, the Women’s NCAA was a bit of an afterthought to me because of the PGA Championship but after last night I am absolutely headed out to Grayhawk instead. What an absolute shot of life those women are. I’ll be following and cheering on my Sun Devils primarily but will be watching as much Stanford as possible and can’t say I’ll be too upset if they end up clipping my alma mater. I hope to see a large following this weekend and I expect this piece by NLU will have played a role in the amount of people out there following the Card this weekend.
You guys just keep getting better and better at this. Not much more to be said. Outstanding job by all involved!
Unfortunately it looks like she’s struggles the last couple events. Let’s hope she gets it going for the NCAA’s soon
Knowing what it takes to put together 80+ minutes of material into a cohesive whole, props certainly go out to @djpie @sundaybag and @Randy for sure, but I would like to give some coins to @rmattgolden for what he put together.
With non-fiction filmmaking, the editor really goes under appreciated but also bears the greatest burden sometimes, particularly if you think in a best case scenario that those 80 minutes we watched came from probably 800 minutes of footage (most times).
Hats off guis. It’s a real gem.
I’m not very familiar with the world of college golf but a couple comments about equipment changes from the players had me wondering about how these players get access to it. I know there was discussion after the FAMU Strapped about getting the team hooked up with gear. How does it work at a top well-funded program like Stanford? No limits? Did the NIL rules change anything?
Also @djpie did they get Starbucks or not?! Chekov’s pink drink over here.
Companies can give college players whatever they want to give them. The top programs don’t pay for much of anything.
Even at the D3 level, college players often pay 40-60% off retail.
I have a bad feeling about it. Coach is very anti-Starbucks.
I am a high school coach and have had a couple kids go play college golf. One big time school, on to a smaller but still D1.
This is all info coming second hand so who knows how reliable. But the best college golfers and programs have access to clubs. It takes time and a phone call, but they can get stuff that they want.
After that, it is things at deep discounts. But I don’t think that is special. Some of the OEMs have high school programs that offer whole pricing to schools or major discounts.
Devastating.
Thought the same thing dude. I was sad for her. Ultra competitive parents suck.
I don’t get the sense that Rose’s dad is anything but supportive of her. He caddies for her often (including her US Am win), amd both she and her personal coach repeatedly praise him for her influence on the golfer she is. I think he’s just not the demonstrative type, but the fact that he’s out there supporting her should be the takeaway.
This.
Some kids specifically ask their parents not to do some things. Particularly the good players… they don’t want the perception that they’re rubbing it in or something. There’s a time and a place to cheer sometimes, and if you can win without rubbing it in, then that’s fine and good.
That’s great. My only knowledge of him is from the doc and what Rose said so that’s awesome to hear. I’ve known parents who don’t cheer for others reasons and they definitely suck.
Like when your kiddo makes an albatross?
Indeed! That’s pretty rare.
