Roll Call: Wisconsin - Madison vs Milwaukee

I’m signed up as well. I think there is another step to add to a back-end list.

Unfortunately, not the case any more.

I just spoke to Sand Valley reservations and everyone on a tee time at the Lido has to be an overnight guest.

Sorry @Amholzman24

How would they know if you split a bed or not?

Yeah I’ve wondered about actual enforcement but I’m unwilling to risk joining the Chicago finance bros on the banned list.

While I’m here and related to the above… course recommendations for the Eagle River area?

I’ve asked around and heard good/great things about Plum Lake. Any others or general scouting reports/advice for courses in that area?

Outside of Plum Lake, St. Germain is the best course in that area that I’ve played. Timber Ridge in Minocqua is a decent track as well.

Question for you supper club aficionados, anyone been to The Duck Inn outside of Richmond?

A little last minute, but hoping I can get some local input. We finished up at Sand Valley yesterday and the only thing on the schedule today is arriving at our hotel in Milwaukee. Probably going to meander back and hit Madison on the way. Any recommendations for things to do (eat, drink, or see) in this area?

Wisconsin has been amazing so far. Erin Hills was incredible (except for the food and bev prices). Sand Valley might have the best curds we’ve tried yet. That buffalo sauce!

Since you’ll be in Milwaukee after, I feel a Madison stop is called for. Any of these will give you a feel for our wonderful city in short order:

  • UW campus terrace at the student union (beers on the water)
  • Dinner around the capitol square or on Williamson St.
  • New Glarus brewery/beer garden, take some beer with you to Milwaukee
  • A 90-100min 9 hole round at Glen Golf Park & putting course

Co-Sign Jchickman for the Madison itinerary. Highly recommend getting a beer at Memorial Union (student union) and having a beer or a pitcher overlooking the lake.

For Milwaukee, go see the bronze Fonz. Not because it’s a must see thing. But because it’s in a cool area downtown and gets you by the river and seeing some of the city. From there, there’s a ton you can do. Have a drink and see some art at the St Kate Hotel. Head over to Deer District for some decent food/drink options on 3rd street in the shadow of Fiserv Forum. Or go down to the 3rd Ward and walk through the Public Market.

If you want to go a bit out of the way, Boone and Crockett is a great place to grab a drink and a food truck for some real casual mexican-ish food. That’s down in the Bayview/Walker’s Point neighborhoods, which would still be considered fairly trendy areas.

Co-sign the Terrace. Parking sucks, but on a sunny day it’s the absolute best.

If you make it to Glen Golf Park, a stop at Village Bar is encouraged.

If you decide to head near the capitol to the square, Graze curds kick SV’s ass.

Better food/drink in Bayview than Deer District. Hands down.

Agreed entirely. But for one day in Milwaukee, deer district is a neat area to be around.

I think you meant the old fashioned’s curds, but I’ll forgive you, older me.
