Playing the Glen tomorrow morning. Excited to see what the final product is like, also for a change up from playing the same courses over and over this summer.
@Aprovenz @DWise @midwestgolfbum (or maybe) @RosesTintedGlasses
After nearly booking a 6:00 at Odana on accident, I have a 5:30 at āThe Glen Golf Parkā on Monday the 11th.
If there are others that want to make this a mini meetup, there are open times after that!
I grabbed the 540 just in case.
Sorry boys, but I already have to drop out. @RosesTintedGlasses, itās all yours! Iāll make the next meet up!
I played Glen Park on Saturday night and really enjoyed it (full disclaimer, I never played it before the renovation). The conditioning is definitely still muni level, but they opened up everything and made some interesting greens. There is a right and wrong side to miss on most tee shots and approaches and there is enough challenge out there to keep it entertaining for better golfers.
The course really integrates into the area well. There were a couple families out on the putting course and I saw multiple golf bags on the back deck of Village Bar. Iāll definitely be back, especially since it was a 2 minute and 10 second drive from my house.
Approach on 4, really open with some decent land movement:
Wait WHAT?!! @djpie burying the moving to MKE news in the 4th of July holiday news dump while Iām on vacation. Classic. Is this for real???
I see that you boys have already dissected this, but as I just learned about this the other day, gotta say⦠fuuuuuuuuuck SentryWorld for their $275 all-inclusive nonsense. What a joke. I like the course more than most here, but I think itās a $150 course at the absolute most. For Stevens Point Iād say even $100 is pushing it. Guess Iāll just stay closer to my parents place and play Timber Ridge an extra time.
Couldnāt agree more. If youāre willing to pay that much for golf, go play Sand Valley. If you want to stay in the area, try and get on SPCC or go to Iola and play Glacier Wood (tho the 15th hole can go fuck off forever)
Glacier Wood is the site of my personal icarito. 38-48 in sectionals my sophomore year. I havenāt played that course in about a decade and I still think about hole 15 from time to time. Apart from the deep psychological scars and that hole, itās a pretty fun course.
Hey all, bumping this one. My friend and I will be playing the first day in or around the Milwaukee area for sure. Any recs on courses? Going to the Brewers game that evening so Iād there is anything nearish the ballpark then even better. Initial thought was Brown Deer but all ears if there are better options. Thanks in advance!
Brown Deer is a solid option. No frills, solid course, cool history and cold beer.
Played the Glen yesterday morning and really enjoyed it. The course has the bones to be something special, hoping that the city parks department promotes the course as a unique experience compared to the other city courses. Has some unique tee shots and some layouts that make you think twice about your tee shot or approach.
Once the club house is finished this will be a great short course to play pretty frequently. The greens have definitely been rebuilt compared to how they used to be and will be tough once they dry out a bit. Overall, the course is still pretty soft but once this dries outā¦watch out! It will be fun to play with it is firm and fast.
I have quite the week ahead.
Golf with you guys Monday, SV and MD Tuesday, playing with @Klebs01 Thursday, Green Bay CC Saturday, and Horseshoe Bay on Sunday.
What about Wednesday and Fridayā¦
Friday Iām traveling, Wednesday thereās possibly a round at Milwaukee happening.
Making a strong argument to be in-between jobs right now.
Might try to sneak up to Minocqua CC and Lawsonia before I start the new job too. A true whoās to say situation.
Just popping in to say how fucking good Lawsonia Links is. Holy shit, what a cool place. It was also 70 degrees and about zero percent humidity last night.
Did I mention how good Lawsonia is? Now headed to Erin but I could play Lawsonia every damn day.
Did two loops at āthe glenā today. Iāll echo earlier sentiments that it still has some growing to do, as the greens were slow and soft. Once they get them rolling a little quicker itāll be a ton of fun. Also, if we shit on the oaks for being a helmet mandatory course, the glen is as well. Holes 1, 4, 5, and 7 all have potential for for duck and cover.

Agree on the helmet mandatory piece, especially that 4-5-7 corridor. My tee shot on 7 ended up on one of the forward tee boxes for 5 and I hit it where I aimed. The tee box on 5 feels like it points right into 4 fairway and it isnāt really well defined with the single mow.
