Please keep us posted on any Glenway tee times / openings. @chrisisoutrunning
My weekends are pretty much spoken for until August, but if anyone wants to do an evening round and then grab a beer/food at The Village Bar afterwards on the 11th, 13th, or 14th, let me know. (I could make most Monday or Thursday evenings work, tee times are only available ten days out, hence why I suggested those days.)
I could make the 11th workā¦
Welcome to WI Mr. Pieman! Also known as just outside of Chicago so it should be an easy transition. Hope Big gave you a nice relocation package and we hope to see you out and about this season!
Iād most likely be in
Exciting day for the Wisconsin thread.
My wife said, āthat meal at the Calderon Club was just too goodā
Make sure to treat @djpie to Real Chili
I got a feeling he is well-versed in Marquette eats.
I went out and played last Friday afternoon and it was a lovely experience. Will definitely go there a bunch the rest of the summer. Greens need a little time to firm up but otherwise I didnāt have any complaints. The tee shot on 4 is indeed visually intimidating from the back. I also wish they could have re-done the approach into 5. Maybe itās just me, but there just isnāt really a window to get it through with a second shot. The stop light system didnāt appear to be functioning property on 9 so hopefully that gets fixed.
Would recommend.
Since Iām jobless for a few weeks, same.
Second-floor of the Sugar Shack getting remodeled or something?
Changing jobs, the only time you get a couple weeks off and a raise.
Congrats, my friend!
After 30+ years of playing golf, Iāve decided to join a club in the Madison area. Iāve prided myself on being a golf nomad, but I am missing out on rounds due to access and available āgolf friendsā.
Iāve narrowed it down to 2 options; Nakoma and Blackhawk. Iām leaning Blackhawk due to no initiation fee, I would have a sponsor and it has a āgolf onlyā membership option. However, I have never played it - upcoming tee time scheduled with a member. The course is much shorter than I typically play and is still a par 72, but there is a possibility it would make me a better golfer.
Nakoma I have played once in a scramble format for charity. Not since its remodel to fix the drainage. There is an initiation, only 1 membership option which includes all the bells and whistles (tennis, pool, etc.) and the annual dues are about 50% higher than Blackhawk. I like the length on the scorecard and being a par 70 doesnāt bother me.
Feedback or insights?
If I was picking between the 2, it would be Blackhawk.
I like the guys there better, like the course more (even if I joke itās a par 68), and while Iāve known Brad forever, Schnarr has always treated me better.
The nice thing is, youāre not going to pick wrong either way.
Play both, sit and have a beer after and get a feel for the people and staff, and decide which you will be the most likely to use based on facilities, location, and your thoughts on the āvibeā (hate that word).
I can make damned sure I introduce you to the right guys to make this happen. Former state open champion, guy who is a mini tour guy and making money, and some of the others they hang around with. Go take them on without strokes and youāre going to get better!
Nice! I look forward to losing money.
Iāve never played Nakoma, but Iāve played Blackhawk a few times. I also bartended there for a summer a few years back. I canāt say enough about the people who work there, AND the members for that matter.
The course is on the shorter side, but there are some really fun holes out there. Iād go Blackhawk for sure.
If anyone from the foursome at glen on 7/11 drops out I could probably make it work.
