Roll Call: Virginia

Thanks! Gonna call and set up my tee time today

Cascades is cool. Played it 2x in a day with a 16 guy group a couple weeks ago.

I was in Portland a couple weeks ago and a girl who worked at the hotel said she was from a small town in VA that nobody had ever heard of. I asked her where and she said Round Hill. I said oh OK yall got a good golf course there.

My old lady just rolled her eyes.

Hope RNK drains well. Gonna be a little moist out there this weekend.

I was there first week of May and it would take a LOT of rain to make that place unplayable IMO

Played it for the first time in the middle of a massive rainstorm and the only problem spots were 17 and 18 fairways if I remember right.

They just added a lot of drainage infrastructure. It’s going to be fine. Thank goodness .5 inches of rain in May is crazy!!

Sweet, that’s good to know. It’s been so dry that we really do need the rain. Just don’t need any torrential downpours that puddle up the course.

now RNK with carts on path only is going to be a good little workout

One of our guys called yesterday and they assured him it would be 90° to the fairways. Seemed premature to decide that but hey, who am I to argue?

I walk 98.5% of my rounds but I have zero interest in CPO there, or anywhere really.

Yeah I’m with you 100%, I walk a mountain course most of the time. RNK has A LOT of spread out holes and covers a shit ton of space too.

CART ON PATH ONLY is the biggest rip off ever

Played the re-fururbished Davis Love Design group) Belmont (now a first tee facility) yesterday. 12 of the original 18 holes still in place and restored as best they could to original Tillinghast design. Bunkering is amazing! Green complexes have a lot of undulation with many putts that are double breakers. Practice facility is awesome top notch. 6 par three short course. Play all 18 (12 + 6) for your handicap posting.

I think this is going to be the most popular place to play for at least the next 6 months. By August everything should be grown in more completely but even with 2 inches of rain the day before the course showed well.

Anyone have a connection to get on one of the private clubs around SML?

Looking for the week of 12 July.

I’ve played Mariners landing and didn’t love it so lucky for another place to play for buddy of mine and I while at the lake.

If its water’s edge I would give them a call, they have all new ownership group and what not they maybe a little more apt to let you now.

Finally got a chance to checkout Stonehouse this past MDW. Thought it could be a really good course, just needs some TLC which I’m sure they’re planning on giving it. Played in the gross weather we had on Sunday so would love to see it in firm, fast conditions. Other thing I noticed is how IMPOSSIBLE it would be to walk that track. Felt like I needed a GPS while taking a cart. It’s also not worth a $90 price tag right now, but I get it. They have a course to get back in shape. Will definitely be back.

Also, made it a true Strantz Sunday and hit RNK after SH. Not my first time there and she played TOUGH in Sunday’s conditions, but I still love that course. Greens were a touch faster than SH too I’d say.

Did the same daily double a few weeks ago. SH will need some time to grow in and will be challenging. RNK is a true test. I like how different they are from each other with the lush more manicured SH and then the hard and fast RNK.
