I think it’s a great course but yeah if you can’t get a tee time the drive to RNK is worth it. And you can usually save 10-20 bucks on a golf now hot deal

I like colonial heritage. But I’d drive out there in a heartbeat.

River & RNK is a great way to spend two days. I know the river had a tough time with the shutdown. I’m looking forward to seeing it for the Pure Silk in a couple of weeks.

I imagine by now they have her tuned up.

I’ll check it out on TV during the LPGA event for sure - I know they’re aerating between then and my trip, about 10-12 days before I play it. Won’t be ideal, but oh well

River Course was in rough shape 2 weeks ago, especially the greens. I don’t know how you fix that without shutting it down.

greens on River are bent grass, no? Surprised they’re in bad shape with the mild and cooler weather we’ve been having this spring - everywhere in Virginia Beach has actually been really good lately (all bent)

yeah the greens around here are dialed in right now too…now come july shit

Thought I would throw this out onto this thread. Tuesday May 18th is my birthday and I have scheduled at 9:00 am tee time at Stonehouse and a 3:10 tee time at RNK.
There are three spots open for both courses. If you want to join me for either course or both just reach out here on the sign up sheet.

I think it’s just mostly typical resort mega-play and dummies who don’t repair their ball marks combined with Kingsmill’s overall DGAF attitude about EVERYTHING carrying over to the golf operation.

I have never understood why we aren’t using Bermuda down here - it should be fine through our mostly mild winters. Bayville is doing a total reno starting next Feb I’ll be interested to see if they stick with Bent

It really should not be too hard right now. Also from what I hear they haven’t had a ton of play.

RNK has to tarp overnight in the winter. Very labor intensive. Then, for much of the spring they are very bad and full of sprigs. They are good now, but they were awful just a couple months ago.

Aloha Virginians - will be relocating from Oklahoma to the DMV, likely northern VA, later this summer. Looking forward to getting back east and hopefully playing with a few of you whenever cyber world isn’t imploding. Also, keeping an eye open for clubs that might be accepting refugees (pun intended).

Doesn’t really get colder or more weather down here in VB in the winters than it does in the triangle area of NC so not sure why they can pull it off and we can’t - I get when you start getting a little north and west of us that the weather is worse in the winter though…

Happy to give you the lowdown on the club scene. Let me know where in NoVA you are moving, that will likely impact your club selection most.

yeah I was thinking the same…90 mins south of me its exclusively bermuda

We’ve also got a WhatsApp group going with a lot of golf nuts with games popping up a lot. Can share the link when I figure out how.

Over here at the VA/TN border, we have a lot of bentgrass greens, but we are a little higher elevation.
