Great opening hole. That second shot up the hill is tough.

#15 the wind always protects that green.
Love the finish of 18!

Had a moment of panic after my tee shot on 18, ended up down the hill just short of the water. There’s a lonnnng time of not seeing your ball. I flipped a wedge to 10 ft over the water and then missed the birdie (obvi). Fun hole, highlight course of my trip from Oregon.

Happy to have you on board! Shoot me a message with anything you might need or if you want to get out and see the progress.

hey all,

Has any other NLU fans played Bristow Manor Golf Club? Thoughts on the course? I have played it a 4-5 times and thought it is one of the better courses (public) in NOVA. The par 3’s are fairly benign and the 18th is an interesting ending. The fairways and greens seem to be in decent shape even when there is a deluge of rain.

I have played it a few times. It usually is in decent shape. I like the zoysia fairways. I feel like the two par 5’s on the front nine are exactly the same. If your really good a hitting your spots you will do real well there. Has a very heavy target golf feel. I enjoy the back nine more with the elevation changes more prominent. 10, 11, and 12 are a nice stretch together. Agree 18 is nice finishing with the water coming into play. Pricing is fair and probably a little better than some other courses out that way.

bristow is a cool spot and one of the better courses in my memory around NOVA

i aced #8 in my first HS golf match so that was pretty dope

@fore20 has been longing for someone to speak about BM for a long time

When I lived in Manassas I played there quite a bit. I love the sign “No cursing, children at play” in the backyard of one of the bordering houses.

That goes great with the “No children, cursing in progress” sign I carry when I play golf.

When my 13 year old started snitching to my wife about what I say during bad shots we had a talk…

and then I stopped letting him tee off from the 200 yard markers so he could struggle too

Thumbs down to Bristow for the two par 5s on the front that eliminate strategy by forcing you to lay up off the tee.

I feel like those two are the same hole!

I’m a big fan of this track, especially from the back tees.
The par 3’s play much tougher and the 5’s become three shot/risk-reward holes.

The conditioning is usually better or on par with other tracks nearby, and the pace of play is not great at peak times, but moves faster than Westfields or Stonewall at peak, and people seem to fix their balls marks more out there, or hit the green less. haha.

The conditioning is what I notice the most at Bristow. Over the past few years some of the others courses that should be on the same level as Bristow have been coming up short. For example, last summer, went to play Old Hickory and the course was not in good shape. Tee boxes were a mess and the greens were not impressive. It’s interesting to see such a wide array of course conditions in this area.

Raspberry Falls for example. always in shit condition.

A “Raspberry golf trail” course. The condition there has been better than Old Hickory, at least over the past year. The other course that was cool the first few times I played was Potomac Shores. Over the past three years that place has gone downhill. Not sure what the main issues are…

Its a damn shame that course is in such bad condition constantly because the layout is awesome

shocking.

The first time we drove up 3 hours to play there for an outing we were pumped, we saw the price and thought it would be baller af. Nah. That’s a $40-$50 course down here in roanoke, $60 if pristine. Such is golf up there for yall and that sucks.
