I’ve done the math countless times looking at places to join. Never shakes out in the positive. Which course are you thinking about, that’s two hours away?

right off 66, takes me about 90 mins there to DC proper ish most of the time
$2,200 does change the math! Most of the places near us that aren’t private do this for about $5,500 - $6,000. So you have to get in ~60 rounds for it to net out. Gonna check this out!
1400/year for weekend membership with cart included should pull more people outa the metro than it does.
I’ve been here once. Its fine. Its nothin nice, but its golf.
slyfox has gone way down hill. Its crazy packed on the weekends also. Rock Harbor is where its at
yeah I don’t really play on weekends much anymore unless its like late sunday evening because no matter where I go its slow af
If you haven’t been to Olde Mill recently, you’re not going to recognize the place next time you do. They have removed several acres of trees from the golf course. Olde Mill being who they are, won’t give out too many details. The rumor is, they are selling building lots and changing the long-term plan for the property from “resort” to “residential golf community.”
Zillow does show a couple of unimproved land lots located within the golf course. The pictures don’t show the tree removal though.

I’ve never played there before but had it on my list to check out. How is the course? Sounds like you’d recommend a visit.
plan to play 36 that day. Its empty. Its an absolute gem for the price, with an owner who can’t get out of its own way.
If you wanna play there LMK always down
I agree with everything @country35 said.
Absolute gem. Owner is some kind of ridiculous. They don’t go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The opposite actually. They kind-of make you feel like your intruding. But the golf is outstanding.
Let me know when you come play. I live 20 minutes from the facility.
Do you have to stay on site or is it better to rent an AirBnB nearby?
You don’t have to stay on-site. It’s open to the general public. The hotel and cabins on-site are really nice but an AirBnB would be much more cost effective. It’s a beautiful area with lots of outdoor activities.
If you’re bringing a family, October is a great time to come with the fall foliage. The Autumn Leaves Festival in nearby Mount Airy, NC is an awesome event.
if you want big luxury, play primland one day and OM the next
If you want some lifestyle stuff, stay in Roanoke and hop down to OM for the day IMO
just depends on the trip
Also high on my list, this you do have to stay on the resort though right? It’s not cheap to stay and play there but high on my list of places to check out.
you do not have to stay on resort to play there no, unless that changed since I was there last
Primland has options to play without having to stay on-site. I’ve played it a couple of times and never stayed. They don’t make it easy to figure out how though. Both times I’ve played, my GM has called and scheduled us a tee-time.
Had a partner drop out this weekend looking for someone for Saturday and Sunday at Ironwood in Staunton. Tournament is for the First Tee, best ball and then texas scramble two man. if anyone is interested PM me
damn, member/member weekend here or I would been all over it
I’d love to do an Olde Mill/Cross Creek 36 hole day this fall. Get a mountain course and lowland course in the same day.
long as its before the leaves drop at olde mill lol
I’d be down
