They still have some local members play, but the big revenue driver is overnight stays at the cabins (which are top notch) and f&b, so if you talk to the right folks and can swing staying there and agreeing to a F&B minimum, I bet they’d be game. Was completely empty when I went the first weekend of November.
Becoming part of the dormie network was the best thing that happened to Ballyhack. The outta town overnight stuff has to be a huge boost for their revenue
If you’ve seen “member for a day” charity events, there is usually a Dormie stay and play with unlimited golf that goes for a reasonable price. Might be another avenue to look at.
For sure down to link up with whoever wants to play. There’s a ton of other courses in the greater area that I wanna check out as well, namely Pendleton and Belmont.
It’s not worth what they charge imo, but it’s a great place to play. Unless you are a member in the dormie network already you are not getting on however. So as long as you have a dormie network connection, go for it.
Hard disagree here. They’ve been turning away business since they’ve opened. If they ever have cash issues it’s because they’re overly exclusive. They literally hate locals.
Has not been my experience. I have literally called them driving through town and been able to go play
2-3 years ago this was a thing. Who did you talk to recently?
Ballyhack is the type of place that, if the cost isn’t a big issue to your group, will grow on you the more times you play it. Learning the lines off the tee and where the greens funnel to helps make it a lot more fun. I’ve never had a caddy out there, but it may be helpful for the first go around. I’ve hit shots that were what I thought were way long (shoutout Icarito) and came back to the hole and balls in the middle of the fairway that were not an ideal spot to play from (shoutout to the tree on #8).
This was 4-5 years ago but wouldn’t your comment just now indicate that being part of Dormie network was a significant positive for them?
Maybe for them? For the golfing world, it sucks ass for most of us. Idk how good courses becoming more exclusive is beneficial to anyone but a select few?
I literally said it was a positive for them and their revenue. Why would that indicate to you I was saying it was a positive for the average golfer on the street?
Who hurt you? this is two out of the last 3 days you’ve woken up and decided to be a dick on here for no reason
I think it’s time for you to block me…… you are taking this entirely too serious, and inserting your own emphasis on what I’m saying. Block me and move on.
If you want to discus ballyhack, the worker there who’s special needs son plays on my challenger league team and what he’s told me, or my experiences there feel free. But I won’t post on here in case you get triggered again.
FWIW, I definitely picked up on the locals vs. Dormie vibe when I was there. The caddies I had were openly talking about it, and it was definitely an undercurrent in conversations I had with the golf pros. Like I said, I was there for a corporate outing and wasn’t paying, which certainly helped color my impressions of the place. I do think its a unique course with a ton of fun factor, a fantastic match play venue for a buddies trip, and as @Thiccarito pointed out, definitely grows on you the more times you play. Could also just be the bottle of scotch and night chipping/putting on #18 talking too.
It’s the closest course to my house, I’m a member two other places. Most of my feelings are just plain butthurt over their hate for locals. I couldn’t be a member there as a local, would have join the network and then it’s limited on how many times I could even play at bh. Last time out there, @Fore20 and myself had to deal with a billing debacle too and they were less than welcoming to us. Fair enough on both ends, they have a great course and It’s the picture i use here, matter of fact. What I dispute however is the idea that the network brought them such great revenues. They have been intentionally limiting play and access for the life of the property, it’s never been about maximizing profit and never will be.
Is my man Craig Wood still teaching there? If so, tell him Coach Mike from RVA says hi.
If you’re a NewClub member (I’m an ambassador for no real reason), you can do a 2 day - 1 night Discovery trip for the low, low price of $1200 per person.
How does one get in on this roost thing? I just wanna whack balls around with the people. I see the spreadsheet way up above. Do I just add myself to that or is there a formal process, perhaps drinking some nondescript liquid from a ceremonial chalice? A sacrificial offering?
your reached step one Just type your info and admit your sickness, the healing will come thru our future group sessions.
Keeps saying my access to the doc has timed out. I can only get like one or two cells in before then.
